Sand Anemone?

Yeah, Rod I agree with you .. but I'm 100% certain thats not an LTA. Its an E. Quadricolor.
Here is my purple M. Doreensis. If you want a good sand dwelling anemone. This is a great one. The only complaints I have is ...it has eaten all my fighting conchs, a few of my nassarius snails, and cerith snails.. It also stung my sea biscuit, which killed it. lol..It is a beautiful though.

Hi,
I have a beautiful tube anemone. He is attached to the rock even though I have a very deep sandbed. When I first got him, about 1yr ago he tried to kill himself on the powerheads.
I put filters around the powerheads and he has settled into the very center of the tank and has stayed put for 4 months now.
Evety once in a while he goes wondering but always settles back into his starting place. I feed him thawed out chunks of shrimp. Every two weeks.
I have a picture I can upload if you want to see him. He was bought on line as orange but he is bright pink in my tank. He glows in the dark.

So far he only ate a benny lawnmower. Everything else is smart enough to leave him alone. When he really streaches out I feed him. This is a 90g tank to give you an idea how big he is. He is a good 13 inches around.
all that is in there with him besides corals are a couple of clowns, a blue Tang, another lawnmower bleeny and a sandsifter goby, Some serpent stars and lots of crabs.
I like him so much. he really worried me when he tried committting sushi with the powerheads.

Is it Cyano? It isn't slimmy red. Its hard like the rock itself. Somebody said caraline can be dark red. I do have some redX. I just got it tonite. The hair algea is driving me nuts. I am going to buy a fox fish. I heard they eat the stuff.
I had one once before but i gavehim away when I moved, last year.
I just did a 30% water change. I overfed my corals. I have a new frag and I wanted to get it going real good. Stupid me.

I'm no expert...cyano blows off though...so if it is hard then idk....In the pic you can't touch it....LOL...I try to not use chemicals..I bought a seahare for my hair algae, and an urchin....I had hair algae all over my 225g a cooupl of weeks ago, and now you would never even know I had it....water changes with ro/di...

Sorry but I had to go to work last night. I just got home.
My lawnmower blenny disappeared about 1 month after I got the Tube anemone. I assumed he ate it.
I love my LMB so I after a while I bought another, I told myself if the nem ate him he would be traded away. I have had the new LMB now for 3 months and no problems.
Nothing else has disappeared and everything stays away from him.
What in the world is a sea hair??? I am going to go look it up. I don't care for chemicals either.
My water tests out fine. I have had red slim in the past and it never looked like the stuff I have on my rocks now. It was always a slimmy carpet that covered everything.
I will dose the tank and see if it makes a differance. I don't like the way it looks. My rock has been around for the 55g and the 75g and now the 90g. I just moved everything in Aug of 08. So its been through allot. I moved from Wisconsin to Illinios, 60 miles.
I have things to do so I will go.
O and wow what beautiful pictures.

If you had that much cyano in your tank you would know it. It builds a slime layer and thickens above teh rock. I have some corraline that color. I have a sea hare and he ate all my hair algae in 2 days, now I feed him sea veggies, very hungry guy.

Then you might want to stay away from anemones. Every type of hosting anemones or non hosting anemones will eat tank inhabitants. Its the risk we take on keeping such beautiful creatures.

Hi,
I dosed the tank to be sure. I have to do another water change anyway. My Mom likes the red. I just don't want a sick tank.
I am going to look into a sea hare. Pros and cons. I havn't seen any for sale in the fish stores around here so if I need to get one I hope SWF has one available.
I had a foxface rabbit fish that did a real nice job and I loved his yellow color. I had to be careful of his mohawk.
I gave him away with most all my corals because I got a divorce and was moving from Wisconsin to Illinois.
So I am just now rebuilding my reef. In went for a 90g upgrading from a 75g. I wanted a 125g but space prevented me. My Anemone, Xzenia, and coco worm with a few crabs came with me. Also my royal gramma, blue tang and the 2 clowns.
I now have a lettuse leaf, galaxia, mushrooms and red carnation. A real pretty yellowish orange guy, I am not sure what he is, its just a frag.
My tank looks so bare. I know the xzenia and lettuse leaf will spread. The mushrooms already moved to another rock so I put them on opposit sides of the tank to try and get them to spread more. One rock is totaly covered.
The picture I uploaded is in the dark so all the coral was closed up. Mushrooms looked small but each one is about
1 1/2 dia.
My water always reads perfect. My PH has to be boosted up once in a while because of the RO water. I didn't trust my test kit so I took my water in and all is perfect. I over feed my corals to get them to grow. But I follow the instructions to feed every other day.
Now I think they want you to feed that often so they can sell you more stuff to compensate for over feeding.

either way, it appears to be a little hungry, which if it IS an M.doreensis (doubtful) could be why its climbing/staying on the rock (closer to the light/food).
Welp if its hungry, it won't take any food from me. I've tried to feed him. Saw the clown fish bringin him morsels, was hopin they were feeding him.?? And no, I can't get a pic of its underside, its hunkered down in a crevice of the rock. Just what am I looking for?? Its foot is orange, (red perhaps)

YOU can buy sand anemones I have two one is purple with a green Centre and the one I brought only yesterday which white with a green Centre your fish should be save unless they are very small .
