I have crushed coral almost 2 inches deep, but I want to put a few inches of live sand in to really get things nice. Sould I put it on top of the crushed coral?

Since you have so little crushed coral... I've told you corkey:
Take it out and put in aragonite. Then seed that with live sand (live aragonite sand if possible) on the top.
But you won't have an effective DSB unless it is 4 inches. The denitirfication process I believe doesn't start until that depth.
Aragonite also helps return calcium to the system over time. It also supports the ph and alkalinity of SW. Crushed coral does not. Aragonite is also formed from some of the elements SW systems thrive off of.

I know. That's because I am off work for three days.. as of a couple of hours ago. Lots of energy, and lots to do. And I just picked up a coral banded shrimp from rroberts. Awesome shrimp. I traded him a colt frag for it. But I believe this weird, possibly curly q anenome sucked it through a hole in the LR. I'm dead serious too. No pun intended.
