Sand

hello,
I've read all about DSB being 4-6 inches deep but I don't want the look of 6 inches of sand on the front glass. Will having only 1.5 inches of suger sized or slightly larger sand seeded with the sand activator from IPSF lead to problems?
The tank(75 gal) will have a canister filter (Rena FilStar XP3 rated for a 175 gal tank) and also a tetratec PF500 (rated for a 100 gallon tank) attached. With in a few weeks I will also have a AquaC Remora skimmer.
This is going to be a fish only tank with very limited live rock( eye candy only)
Any input is welcome!!!

That sand bed would be fine. That is An issue with a lot of controversy and in my opinion, It is up to you how deep you want it to be. Hope this helps.:)

If you don't want to look at that deep of sand, just use a starboard or the pebble that you would use in freshwater.
About your filter...you'll love it, i have an XP-2.

If you want sand there's no problem with having 1.5" as long as it's live sand. You will probably not get the benefit of Nitrate reduction though. That's the only difference.
