School Supply Lists

what they forget to mention, is that all these lists are "suggested" items and not mandatory. If you cannot afford it, the kids will still get the items. Your buying 8 boxes of crayons for your kid, and the ones who cannot afford to buy theirs.
I buy the full list because I can, but I know that I do not have to...
The first year, I bought my kids all the cool stuff they liked and picked out themselves. When we went to meet the teacher, she pointed to a load of supplies in the corner and said, "put them over there"... Meaning some other kid got my daughters $3.50 crayon box..
I say this so you'll just get the cheapest of everything. And there are generic "baby wipes" in the make up section (walmart) that are like 3 packs for $1.50. FWIW

YUP....that is why they say YELLOW not decorated #2 pencils etc.....I buy Crayola when it comes to crayons....BUT...as far as kleenex and paper towels they get the store brand....which IMO a lot of the times is just as good...:)
Now the pencil boxes and scissors are theirs....they actually tell us what items we can and can not label

not us.....name goes on everything and into named "art box". Nothing is to be shared. This year each kids is supplying a package of copy paper. Specific weight and brightness. Can't just buy all wide rule loose leaf........one teacher wants college ruled in the 1 1/2 in binder. The others want wide rule. Every teacher gives out a list. It is crazy

Honestly (remembering my time in public schools), I think your kids would be happier bringing their own tissues and paper towels... The school's paper towels didn't soak anything up, and the "tissues" gave me bloody-noses...

there are some odd things my senior, freshman and third grader have on their lists
thumb drives alcohol gel paper bags dry erase markers(eraser)
and a note saying that since a child in another class is allergic to peanuts my sun can't
take peanuts or peanut products in his school lunch,( he's real upset cause peanut butter is his favorite food)

What? The kiddos don't want Yikes! pencils any more? The pencils were quite literally as cool as the commercial suggests. The problem was the stupid pencils were soo easy break, they weren't regular wood like normal pencils, they were like pressed fiber. And of course they were more expensive, so it took some pleading to mom to get them... But there was nothing more disappointing to a 3rd grader then opening up your Jansport, only to see your favorite Yikes! pencil snapped in half...
Come on, I know I'm not the only over-commercialized brain-washed child of the 90's....
