I don't think so, they usually build a cave and live in it. I think you may be confusing them with Reef Catfish. They look similar when young. Although Reef Catfish will School they are not a good match for a hobbiest sized aquarium.

Only witnessed fish group and shoal together in an aquarium. Mainly in need of security. Some cardinals seem to get it alot closer than chromis
