Can anyone give me some tips on installing bulkheads? Built my sump out of acrylic and installed sch.80 bulkheads, and then leak tested them and they leaked. Tightened them down some more and no fix. I ended up glueing them down with pvc/acrylic solvent. But what is the deal...do you all have these same problems and what did you do to fix them.? ....teflon tape on threads, silicone sealant?

well on acrylic i woud make sure that the hole for the bulkhead is just a tad smaller than the bulkhead itself....this way it will give an super tight fit. The if you want you can silicone around the outter seal

Let's start from the top.
Is the bulkhead installed this way:
Threaded part where the nut goes is on the outside
The rubber gasket is on the inside
There's no glue or anything on the gasket
Nothing on the outside except the nut
The nut was hand tightened but not super tight
The bulkhead was held stationary while the nut was being tightened

Two most common "mistakes" on bulkhead installation...
1. Too "tight" and the gasket "squeezes" out of place...
2. "Twist it" and the gasket gets "distorted" and will not seal...
