Birdy, thanks for your reply. I'm afraid that it may blow my corals, and rockwork away. My tank is filled to capacity with stuff. There is little room for PH's As it is my MJs are crammed in there.
What do you think, will stuff get blown away if they are nearly on top of them? Do these hold up with just suction cup attachments, or do they require the saddle bracket over the rim of tank?
Also, anybody tried out the Tunze skimmers?

My 820 produces a very low velocity wide dispersion flow pattern, I think you'll be fine with them, maxi's are much more of a violent flow. I haven't even heard of the Tunze skimmers yet. Also the suction cups work fine by themselves, some people are worried about them failing and creating a sand storm but the seem like pretty good cups, at first they seem flimsy but the first time I tired to get the bracket off for cleaning they were quite hard to remove.

Oh, thanks then for that info, zan. That's what I was hoping to hear. When you see 820 gph and compare that to a little MJ 1200 its hard to understand that the MJ might put out more of a blast.
Thanks for the updates guys!

Zan beat me to it.:D
The top and the bottom ones are the same but with the cowlings removed. Here's a pic of the impeller, the water leaves the pump on the big end dispersing the flow.

Salt, so are you saying that all those pumps in the pic you posted are the same PH? HMMMM

I really need to get water movement going right at the surface. Can you situate these up there so that the water is moving pretty much everywhere at the surface. I plan to continue using my other MJs that are lower in the tank.
Everyone has been very helpful, thanks.

you're not going to want to place these at the water line if you take the cover off of the seio. it will create a vortex and suck in air. maybe a few inches down and you'll be ok..
i have a 820, 620 and a tunze 6000 in my tank. the tunze blows the seios out of the water, but for the price and size the seios are a very good product.

Are you referring to the turbelle streams? I was looking at those too, but again, I was worried about it blowing everything around. The tank is only 12" wide back/front with rocks and corals piled up high. And they are not exactly cemented down either. 72bowfront.
How is the volocity with those bumps. I have a 6" dsb.

I seriously need some water movement at surface, so you think that these can do that, even if I move them down a bit? Now, I have the MJs point directly at surface.
Also, same manufacture as RIO :scared:
How will they hold up with constant brownouts? Power on/off. RIOS definately did not hold up at all, not even new ones.

Those are Tunze's comline models . Tunze also has their automatic line of skimmers(see pic).

Beth, They can be set up to HOT . Here's a pic of how I did mine on a 45 gal. Also my light canopy sits high enough so you dont see the skimmer only the top of the collection cup.

I missed that TUNZE pic. :D
Mark, or anyone, my SEIOS are shooting out bursts of air bubbles pretty frequently. Any idea? Yes, they are completely submerged, but close to the top.

No bubbles here...you know, I think its an easy fix but for the life of me I can't think of anything right now.

Sometimes you gotta knock'em and rotate them while running. Not just them, but pumps in general. Give that a try, you should see bubbles come out.
