YIKES....Hubby is home and apparently the Central air isn't working.....I called the a/c guy and am waiting for him to call back, but apparently there is quite a list...LOL..I told them I would pay xtra...I know the guy, so I know they won't take advantage of that offer

Thank goodness I have the small window unit in the fish room, BUT hubby says it is 88 in there

The 225g is at 81.9 right now....I had him turn the metal halides off...that should help a lot, and I still have 2 small fans on it....I will not be home until 6 :( I have ro/di ice in my freezer if necessary, an I am having him fill a container with some more to chill JUST IN CASE
The 54G and 29G are also at 82..........
What is freaking me out is all the HORROR stories I have read on this site about losses due to heat

That does suck. I mean I heard you mention your poor husband a couple of times and all he got was watch out for the fish.
and as far as that goes everyone is calling them zoos now.
Hope the problem gets fixed soon for the fish and your husband.

Tell him to point some fans at the top of the tank. The Evap will lower the temp quite well.

Yikes, good luck Meowzer! I've survived a couple AC shutdowns here in SFL, but never in the dead of summer thank goodness. I hope he can fix it tonight!

got that covered...LOL...I DO read a lot of threads...haha....I have done all that I have read...If the a/c guy can't come tonight I might go buy a large window unit for our front room....We can always save it for when we build our shop next year

Well I am about to leave my nice air conditioned office and head home :( The a/c guy will try to get there first thing in the morning, so I am not going to bother buying a large window unit tonight......According to hubby, the 225G is holding at 81.9.....and the other at about 82.....I will watch them closely after I get home and add cool ro/di water or ice if needed

Maybe you'll get lucky and it will just be the capacitor or the thermostat. Those are cheap fixes. Hopefully your hubby turned the unit off once he realied it wasn't working. Leaving it running can cause more harm than good. Maybe hubby can open the thermostat and double check to make sure the wires are making good contact. I've shown up for a lot of calls here lately that turn out to be just that. Check all of the breakers too. Those are the 2 easiest things that you guys should at least be able to check yourselves. Oh...and if it's a battery operated thermostat then try replacing the batteries too. Sometimes even though the low battery indicator light isn't on, it still turns out to be the batteries.
Maybe you'll get lucky.

LOL....LUCKY....ME....HAHA....have you never read any of my threads
he's gonna check that stuff now Corey...BUT the a/c guy said to feel the large copper pipe.....it should be extremely cold....and if not....well we got a problem....it IS NOT cold :(
I will tell you this...IT IS FREAKIN HOT .....the 225G is 82.7.....so glad I had him turn the MH lights off....I should have had him turn the whites off the 29G and 54G....they are at 85
I just put some ro/di ice water and cubes in....turned off the white lights, put another fan on the 54G...I will add some more cold water and ice....but not too fast....it's 90 in this room with the small window a/c......92 in the other rooms of the house....
I just am very glad the 225G is not getting up there.............phewwwwwwwwwwwww

Umm..yeahhh! lol. If the a/c is not cooling then the large copper pipe (low pressure line) is definately not going to be cold. Do both of the units come on...the inside one and the outside one...how bout the fan on the outside unit, is it running?
Maybe I can atleast give you a heads up on what to expect.

YUP the fan outside is running...and the inside unit comes on too...the outside unit is still under warranty though, but this still will be a long night, we can always go out in the camper...lol...we have central air in that too :) the thermostat is a digital electric one...no batteries

My poor pug is handling this bad.....I have her in my fish room....usually the dogs do not come in here....it's slightly cooler then the other room though...and I have a lot of fans going

Sorry for the doggies...I know it sucks. Believe me, I hear it from people every day lol.
One more crazy question...By chance can you happen to hear if the compressor is running on the outside unit. It makes a humming noize. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish from the fan but if the compressor and the fan are both running then you're looking at a leak somewhere and the unit will have to be re-charged. He'll also have to find the source of the leak and fix it.
