YAYYYYY...the a/c guy just called and he is on his wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Hubby said he knows fan was running...not sure about compressor though.......I asked the a/c guy about ordering stuff...he put this unit in and he said they stock 99.9% of everything...lol...so he would be pretty surprised if he didn't have what we needed
YIKES...this is me we are talking about :( keep your fingers crossed for me
It will probably take him 30-40 minutes to get here though....we put up a sheet to close off teh fish room....haha....it went down 1 degree haha....this poor little window unit is really being worked today

Cool...umm, I mean YAYYYY. lol
I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya and hope that it's just the compressor not running because of a $6 dollar capacitor.

Thanks....if a compressor was out.....wouldn't that be under the warranty????? the guy said he keeps them in stock

Well if the unit is not very old and the compressor is not running then odds are it's either just the capacitor that's gone bad, because they have a motor in them and the motor cant run if the capacitor goes bad.
Or it's because there is a leak in the system. When too much freon leaks out the compressor will get really hot, and when it gets too hot it shuts itself off in order to keep from burning out.
But yes...a capacitor should be covered in the warranty. A leak on the other hand depends because the leak may not be in the unit. Just have to wait and see what he finds.
Oh and yes...if the compressor itself has gone bad it should be covered.

I actually think we do need a bigger unit for our house....that is why I have the small window a/c in the fishroom....this room is an add on, and always warmer....the original a/c installers were supposed to account for the add on when they installed our unit....I think they screwed up.....therefore our unit probably runs more than it should
we are gonna see how much it would cost to replace it, but I think it will be a lot

Hmmm, guessing the coils are freezing over due to low freon, or the system is out of freon all together. The house in a Orlando had a slow leak. Cheaper to have them refill it every 6 months instead of fixing it...

Of course you can do the bottled water thing too....but in my 29G there is no room for bottles of frozen water.....and in the 54G, not really either...the ice was much easier....and I took some fresh ro/di and mixed it with ice to make it cold, and poured that in....remember..you want GRADUAL temp changes

the hottest the 225G got was 83.7 the 54G and 29G 85/86.....I got them down to 83.....I'm gonna watch them, BUT now that we are cooling off (SLOWLY) I don't think they should go up anymore
PHEWWWWWWWWWWWW...I lucked out....HAHA...ME....LUCKY YAYYYY...I better not get use to this

Glad it worked out! I can only imagine how quickly the temp would rise in my tank if the ac went out with the heat that we have been having!

haha, when I first glanced at your title I thought it said sh*t tacos;

Glad it sounds like things are working out. If it happens slow enough a tank getting up to 85 isn't the end of the world; I don't think mine nuked my fish until it got up to 90 last year.
What shop are you and your hubby opening?

I used 2 fan from walmart put it on top of the tank pointing at the water your evaporation will be very high but water is cheaper than dead livestock or 1000 watts chiller
