I just finished my new tank build
. I have been wanting a smaller tank in my office for quite a while now and after remodeling the office just recently I decided that now is the time. It is a 20 gallon display tank with a 10 gallon wet/dry sump. My hopes are that I can bread some black and white clown fish in it, any suggestions?
This time instead of building my own overflows I bought them off of glassholes and it came with the drill bits to cut the holes in the glass (I probably saved 60 or 70 bucks because of this) myself. The over flow is awesome and doesn't take up much room inside the tank. I'm letting the tank cycle now and after that is done I will be moving some of the live rock from my larger tank (I have tons of live rock in my 90 gallon) to this one.
A friend of mine help me build the stand, I was trying to keep everything as small as possible so it is a little bit cramped underneath, here are some pics. Let me know what you think.

Nice stand...will you have enough room to maneuver in there? (As far as cleaning the sump)
Love the light fixture idea too...
What is that black thing on the right side of the tank?

Hello meowzer, and thanks!
The black thing on the side of the tank is an underwater filter, I just placed it in there while the tank is getting started, I will be removing it later. It is actually a really nice filter, it cleand up the mess made when I added the live sand very quickly and it is super quiet, but it is not something that i want in this tank.

Hiya Spanko, Thanks!!
It does look like springs in the picture, but that is just the slack of the chain hanging down. It is long enough so that the lights will almost touch the tank. I am just keeping the lights up high while im still setting up.
as far as getting to the biomedia in the sump (this might be a great job for my kids with small hands LOL) i can remove the protean skimmer and the return pump and slide the wet/dry filter over to the left where I can still cuss that i dont have enough room, then change it out.

OOO yeah the door knob,,, and I thought that everyone was going to scream about the computer being next to the tank LOL.
I just remodeled my office and when I changed out the carpet I used a thicker padding under it. I need to remove the door and cut off about a 1/2 inch off the bottom of the door so that it does not drag the carpet, knowing that I need to do this I did not put the door knob back on yet I've been too busy working on my tank, and that is how I prioritize.

I guess that I should have started a new thread for this but,,, I think that I screwed up when I cycled this tank. I started out with 10 lb. of live sand (in the bag) and have been slowly adding sand and live rock from my other tank. I believe that I have added around 7 or 8 pounds of live sand and around 20 lbs of live rock from my other tank.
I watched my ammonia rise to about 1.5 and drop to about .25 the problem is that I have not seen any sign of nitrites it's still at zero. The tank has been up and running now for three weeks. What do you think, is it because of the added the stuff from my tank and now it is ready to go or did I just slow things down?

i think that when you added the sand from your established tank stuff got stirred up a bit and spiked your ammonia a little. i'm guessing everything stabilized if you have corals in there already?

Hi Eric,
yes things settled down and now at normal parameters. It just happened much quicker than what I thought it would. I'm still going to hold off for a while before I add fish, and continue to ghost feed the tank (the corals don't mind).
