they get pretty big probably min 500 gal tank (when young) is what they should be in, plus they are voracious predators, one of the best reef predators in my opinion

he's about three feet. He is currently waiting for his new home in the 700g tank that is just about done cycleing. For right now he is in a 300 gallon waiting for his new home. This fish is just amazing for the power he has when he is eating. To bad didn't get a pic of that.

Even at 700gal, that's only a fraction of the size tank it's gonna need...think 15,000gal. or more.
We have a hard enough time steering people away from sharks, when their tank isnt big enough. It doesnt help when LFS willingly bring in species such as that one (which will max out at over 6') and sell them...just plain irresponsible.

The lfs fish store has sold 3 of these sharks now to people with fish tanks probaly bigger than your house. So before you go almighty and cast the first stone....... And do you know how many sharks are killed each day just so people can eat there fins or just to say o look at this shark I caught. If some one can keep a shark like this and enjoy the life of it. It beats the hell out of being soup.

Not if the tank is way to small and the animal is stressed out its whole life - thats torture. Thats fine if they have a large tank, but there are MANY people out there who will get a shark like that and try to keep it in a regular tank, nowhere near the size they need. An animal like that needs to stay in the ocean, reef sharks arent made to be pets, IMO.

what was the sharks price tag? over 1000$ im guessing. are you sure that is a blacktip reef shark or just blacktip shark. the sharks skin looks to shiny to be the reef version.

This is really sad. This person posted to share and the shark police rear their UGLY fin. Why state ugly things about the LFS? You don't know the guy hasn't sold the sharks to people with huge tanks! How very sad.

A person sounds like they know a lot more if they are negative, so many people choose that course.,

well the LFS want to cut cost and instead of plopping the blacktip in a 1000g...they put him in a 300g...like he said...he is on hold for someone...so he will be in his home soon..
