Here is a look at mine...a series of three 25 gal each that gravity return back to the display. The first is mostly LS and macros...second stage is assorted LR/rubble/macros/LS...third is only LS and very little algae...three returns from the third stage flow back to the display. Sort of ghetto...but very effective.

You say a pod are good and they are tiny. I think I may have them. These that I have remind me a lot of a nat. Real small have to really look for them. They hang around my feather duster rock. Probaly like 100 of them.
Do you think these are called pod?

Your lights should be able to slowly grow Caulerpa but more light will give you a big improvement IMO.

My refugium is a relatively low flow rate...about 100 GPH and the lighting is 6x40 watts of NO flouresent...several types of caulpera grow at a fairly fast rate. The growth rate of macros is dependant on the amount of nutrients avalable. I insure the water pumped to my refugium is direct from the display prior to the skimmer. I've never had much problem with growth rates of the macros. From time to time they'll slow down...but for the most part they grow quick enough that I toss a few pounds every couple of weeks.
