Shrimp babies

I was wondering if pepermint shrimp can have babies in a tank? I got one yesterday and it looks like it has eggs in it belly. The guy at LFS said it had eggs and they would do fine. But I only trust my LFS about 1% of the time. If it does have eggs can they survive in the tank? Do I need to do anything to help them along? Or was the guy just pulling my leg?

Thanks for the info. I don't have much in my tank only a LMB and a few crabs I hope some survive. Do the float in the water until they hatch or some thing?

The Shrimp will carry them for a few weeks and then they will hatch a short while after lights out. The larvae stay in the water column for over a month and they require constant feeding. They won't survive without special attention.
