Did you end up using the maracyn or not? The tank does not have to remain fallow but it would be a good idea o do a fifty percent water change. If you added the maracyn then just run some fresh carbon to remove it.
He likely suffered from shock. He had more than just fin damage from what I can see in the picture. I too have healed fish with fin damage, it was healed within a couple of weeks. I only used Zoecon. It was a pair of maroons and I had them in a 15 long QT. They were torn up when I bought them.
We did use the Macryn. I think it was the shock also. And I am fairly convinced the Clown is the culprit. Does this make sense? We are thinking of putting the clown in our 10 gallon QT tank and then introduce our new fish into the DT. I was going to add new LR anyway, so we can re-aquascape. After that we can reintroduce the Clown to the DT. Since he wil then be the new member, should he be less territorial?

Removing the clown for awhile will help with the territory issue. The problem that I see with your plan is that you will not be quarantining your new fish. If they get sick then you will not have a quarantine tank to treat them in.

When you introduce your Angel back into your DT I would still keep an eye on the dotty back. The clown most likely was the initial aggressor but the dotty may have well joined in

The angel died already. I agree that dottybacks can be aggressive guys as well.
It is important to monitor your fish when they don't know that you are. You will be able to spot who the aggressor is.

We do have a 29 gallon tank that we can set up in the interim. That way we will have a tank for all concerns.

It has to be the clown. We had a six line wrasse die the same way prior to getting the dotty. I had no idea the clown was aggresive. I guess it was happening when we weren't watching. We saw no signs of aggression. Now we know to watch carefully. The angel died in QT.

I am very sorry for the lose of your fish. You may surely have a rouge clown on your hands if he or she was able to kill a sixline
