Skimmer questions

Ok. Thanks. What did you put in the bubble trap? It looks like something is inside of it. Where did you get it? Email me - mikeehowell@yahoo.com.
Also, when you empty your skimmer cup do you actually pull the air valve complete off the air tubing then empty the cup?

So does the breeder box actually have a suction cup on it so you can attach it to the back of the tank? What did you have to seal with glue? Were there holes in the sides of the breeder box? What kind of glue did you use?
I don't understand what the coke cup was for. What were you trying to stabilize? Does the breeder box actually sit on the bottom of the tank?

yes but after the water reduce under the level of the collection cup.
i pick up all the colection cup and washit good with hot water try to clean it good because if not the the greenish waste will stick to the collection cup and it will be hard to take it out

What did you have to seal with glue? Were there holes in the sides of the breeder box? you will see it when you buy the breeder it on both side(i try to find a small box with the suction cup since they don't have it i buy this one if you find the same size with the suction cup without the holes it's better , but this box was good becuase the size not to big and match to the skimmer)
What kind of glue did you use? any under water glue
I don't understand what the coke cup was for. What were you trying to stabilize? when i attach the breeder under the skimmer thewater pressure that fall down from the skimmer push the breeder so i attach the cup and it work

no , try to see in the first post it direct under the skimmer

I think I know what your problem is. i had the same problem. do you have any kind of stress coat products in the tank in the last 3 weeks? if so that is what is producing all the bubbles and why your collection cup is filling so quickly. you will have to turn the air valve off completely and wait possibly a week or two keep checking by turning the air valve.

try to take out the air valve from the tube and turn on the skimmer see what happend , i agree that if you put additive the skimmer will not work correct function but i do this to and i don't have overflow.
can you post picture how your skimmer hang on on the tank and the pump to please?
maybe something wrong but bottom line this skimmer should work.

So the coke cap actually prevented the water pressure from pushing the breeder box down? Is it just a cap from a plastic coke bottle?
Did you actually wait an entire week after you filled in the glue holes before you put it in the aquarium?
Thanks for all of your help.

you know it is cheap but the moment you don't see this bubble in the tank you will love this piece in the beginnig i thought to buy the aqua c bubble trap (about $45 more expensive then the skimmer) but when i saw the size and i have a small tank i decide to make it alone
i also changed the position of the pump and i get better skimming result to.

an other good things is to change the position of the pump. the way the pump come with the skimmer imo not so good because the pump to deep in the tank and the way that it's
sitting in the tank the water level in the skimmer to high and in this case you get quick overflow problem . i bought an elbow from home depot about $2 and i changed the pump position to vertical i get a better skimmer result and i have more space to play with the air valve to adjust the incoming air without to be afraid from quick overflow .
i will attach here the picture how it's look like.

the loud noise that you hear now because it's new when it will break in this noise will reduce a lot.
but remmber when you will add some additive you will here this noise again but after 1 day it will stabile again

Thanks. I might try that. However, I don't have much room in this 15 gallon tank to change the pump to vertical. Plus, Ill have to turn the skimmer off anyways since I already have it running.

I bought the box today. It did not have any holes in it. It said Super Breeder small on the box just like yours. Ill give it a try tonight. Did you have to glue the pads in the box or did they just stay in? Thanks again for all of your help. :joy:

hahahaha.......Dude your paniking just like i was when i first got and set up my skimmer. Water kept pooring into the collection cup, all you need to do is just play around with it and let it do its job. Do you have something that can raise the collection cup? If so i would raise it.
