YES! that is my pump, your the best

I finally looked today too and it said sedra powerhead on it lol..
its a twist and lock style. i took it to the owner of the fish store i go to and when he took it apart he told me that the impeller magnet and inside where you slip the impeller in is all scratched up, so he said that causes the magnet to jam itself since its not smooth... he is gonna try and find me a new one.
is there any reliable places online that i can get that sedra pump for?
ALSO today, my bulbs decided to burn out so i had to go get some new ones. these tanks sure do keep us on our toes.
Good, so now we know what type of pump you have. What is the model of it,ie... a 2000...?
I don't know where to get parts?? When I was looking last night trying to find info for you I found the impellers for like 10 bucks. That is a non needle wheel though. I am not sure what you have so here is the link that I saw. This is a parts page for the sedra 2000;

No worries friend.
Ya know, I am not there looking at your parts but.....I just find hard to believe you need new gear. A ceramic shaft is hard to scratch, and even if it was I don't see how it would effect the impeller any. It is not a metal so the scratch wont cause any distortion to the diameter. Did you clean out the inside of the impeller itself? If anyplace I would say that the issue is in there. The impeller spins on that shaft so if the plastic is scratched any it will have little frays on it. IDK. Just saying to look close and I think it can be saved.

yeahh i see your point, if i put my finger in where you put the imepeller it is all scratched up and if i rub my finger on the magnet it is also scratched up. the fish store owner said the scratches are causing it to jam to a side when i try and run it.

email ASM if you filled out the warrenty card it should still be covered. I think they are covered for 5 years. If not, just buy a new pump on 'the bay'. fairly cheap.

Do you have any 1500 grit sand paper? Maybe a needle jewlers file? I understand the pieces are scratched up. But they can be smoothed back down.
Your gonna do what you are able to do. If you can't fix it then a new one is in order I guess. I am just trying to save you a couple of bucks. Maybe it is not that important.
Good Luck on it.
Oh, I think ASM is now part of the octo line.

i understand and i appreciate it. i looked at the pump again today and the inside where you put the imepeller isnt too bad, i can probably smooth it out but the magnet on the impeller looks to have like the first layer scratched off.

It doesn't work now. If you plan on buying a new impeller assymbly or a new pump you have nothing to loose by trying to fix it.

Hey Salt,
Good to hear that it is working again for you. Now play with that other one. Just for kick and giggles.
