Small triggerfish?

Anyone know of a type of trigger that would fit in a 29 gallon tank?
Or a good choice of fish to go with a puffer and a snowflake eel in a 29 gallon tank? (yes, I know it would be crouded)
And, what type of puffer would you recomend in this set up?
Thanx

Your tank is too small for puffers, eels, and triggers. As they get bigger, your water quality issues will be a nightmare in that size of a tank.

I was told a snowflake eel would make it (a little crowded) in a 29 gallon tank. I'm sure a green spotted puffer would also be fine, seeing their max size is 5 inches.
I was told I couldn't keep a Pacu (I'm talking freshwater) in a 29 gallon tank, because they grow at least a foot. But I have kept 2 gourami's, 1 pink kisser, 5 catfish, 1 loach, a pair of convicts and their 50 babies, two more fish that are 7 inches long, two tiger barbs, and one bala shark, so please don't give me that "it won't fit" talk. But thanks for the advise. I'm moving this herd into a 55 gallon tank, and want to do something with the 29 gallon tank their in now. Any suggestions?

If you are looking for people to tell you it's okay to put all those predatory fish in a small 29g, I think you are wasting your time and ours.
Why ask for advise, when you obviously plan to totally disregard it? Go ahead and just do it, don't look for us to tell you it's the right thing to do. Because 99% of the good people here will tell you it's not. Not what you wanted to hear, but there you go.

let's see, i will give my opinion again, if you want it from me
i have seen greenspots do well in sw, they only get about 6 inches, so they may be fine in a 29, but the snowflake and triggers are definitely a no go in the long run, no matter what your lfs tells you, most of them IMO don't know or want to know anything, because they like fish being stressed and unhappy and dying, it is business for them, if your fish only live a couple of months or years(this is what they want and consider success), we here want to see them make it years and years and beyond, which many of us do aachieve
and i agree, why ask if you are going to disregard it, i have answered before(as well), and you seem to keep looking for someone to say yes, so you can go ahead and do it, just because you may find ONE person that says go ahead, does not mean it will work, it seeems as if maybe this is what you are doing
and the green spot if acclimated slowly will live in salt water, i DO know of others who have done so
but the tank is way too small for anything else you are looking for, you really only should have about six inches of fish in there in the long run(which ultimalely means the green spot should live alone)

Settle it. I'm just seeing all my options before I buy. All the fish I was talking about I probably won't even get. If you don't want to answer my questions, and just want to give me a speech, don't look at my questions.

Buy the way, Amphiprion. You said that I am giving my fish bad care buy keeping them in the 29 gallon tank, then how come my pair of Convicts are having babies every 3 weeks? They only have babies when ther are in a good environment. If you want to give a speech to someone, join speech class or become a parent if not one already..

yes. cons are supposed to spawn in good conditions. but they would probably be the "kings" of your wayyyyy-overstocked 29 gallon.
trust me, convicts would spawn in a mud puddle in the middle of a thunder storm in freezing weather if given half a chance. they are NOT hard to spawn and all it takes is a male and female. they will continue to spawn constantly.

It's an inside joke, sussie. And with the Convicts, I know they spawn easily and you just made me loose my arguement. :)

I don't give a tinker's damn what your convicts do in a freshwater tank - keeping saltwater fish isn't the same thing. You can't cram fish like sardines in a 29g tank and expect them to stay healthy. Once you get a little more mature, you will realize that <img src="graemlins//yeahright.gif" border="0" alt="[yeahright]" />

hey lilsal, how long you had your lunare??
as far as telling others to .... off, that is not polite at all, but the lunares get 10 inches and should be kept in a tank of at least 75 gallons, telling others to do so and add more is not really a good idea, this board is geared toward helping others,
now as i said lunares get 10 inches, and even if they did stop growing because the tank is too small, it would only be cruel and stressful to try and prevent them from growing, in addition to the fact that this is not fw and tanks should be stocked much more conservatively,
i have a 75 and it looks very empty compared to any fw tank i ever had, but it is near it's limits on stock and my biggest fish is a 7 incher for reason too
now, blj , if you want a real suggestion for a 29 gallon tank, you will either really be limited to one mid size(lightly active)fish or a couple of smaller fish, if you go with aggressive then i would reccomend only one mid size(4 to 7 inches) like maybe, MAYBE a dwarf lion or the green spot or then peaceful, you could go with a pair of clowns, and mybe a scooter or a couple of chromis or firefish, or maybe in aggressive a mid size species of wrasse, but a 29 gallon does really kinda limit your posssiblities a bit, there is also a kind of eel that would be fine in a30 gallon, but i cannot remember what kind it was if i remember i will post back later IF you'd like

HI THERE, IF I WERE YOU I'D STAY AWAY FROM TRIGGERS ALL TOGETHER!! THEY SAY THAT THE PICASSO TRIGGER OR HUMA HUMA AS IT'S CALLED IS THE NICEST ONE?? WELL, GUESS WHAT??? THEY ARE WRONG!! I HAVE A 60 GLN TANK, HAVE HAD IT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW AND IT IS DOING WELL WITH A PICASSO TRIGGER, A BIRD WRASSE, A SMALL CLOWN FISH, A BLUE TANG AND A REAL NASTY AND AGRESSIVE SQUIRREL FISH OR I FORGOT MY SWEET, SWEET CORAL BEAUTY(MAYBE THIS IS WHY THE NAME IS SO) ANYWAY, I WANTED TO ADD ANOTHER FISH TO MAKE IT A TOTAL OF 7...SO I WAS TOLD BY MY LOCAL FISH STORE TO GET A CUTE "DOTTY BACK" WELL, I PLACE IT IN THE TANK AND IT WAS A $25.00 MEAL TO MY TRIGGER AND THE SQUIRREL TRIED TO EAT IT HEAD ON!!! THE TRIGGER BIT AND BIT AND BIT AND I CRIED...POOR FISH MAN, IT DID NOT HAVE A CHANCE...MY ADVICE TO YOU....YOU WANT A TRIGGER WHICH HAVE TEETH??? GET IT IN THE TANK AT THE SAME TIME WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE AND KEEP IT THIS WAY,MAKE SURE ALSO THAT IT IS A SMALL ONE, SMALLER BETTER THAT ALL THE REST OF YOUR FISH.. IT IS VERY VERY TERRITORIAL, AND WILL EAT ANY INVERTEBRATE ALSO....GOOD LUCK, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY...BY THE WAY, YOU CAN HAVE A SMALL TANK AND BE HAPPY TOO, DON'T LISTEN TO PEOPLE HERE, JUST DON'T OVERCROWN YOUR FISH AND FIND OUT HOW BIG THEY GET!!! SO YOU CAN ENJOY THEM AS WE ALL DO PATTIE

Here you go! This is what you want to hear! All of your fish will be just fine (and dead)so load it up, also you might want to see if you can get a small yellow fin tuna to go with it (sounds like a good combination), if you cant find one try about 10 more triggers and a few large angels too. Take the advice and buy a bigger tank or give it up! The other choice you have is put them in and dont cry when they die.

I agree with the hole theory of only keeping one inch per 5 gallons but everybody always looks at the full grown length of the fish. One most fish grow very slowly and two most fish don't reach thier full size in an aquarium no matter how large it is. I have a 30G tall tank that current has a baby snowflake eel, a small Niger Trigger, a small spinny boxfish, a 5" lunare wrasse, a small batfish, and a calico crap. I know that in the long run that is way to much but these fish will live quite well the way they are for many months maybe even years. The key is getting small fish and not overfeeding the tank. This will keep the bio load to a min. I also us a skilter 400 and an underground filter to ensure good filtration. Just know that it is a temporary tank. I know that in the next 8 to 18 months I will have to take some of these fish back to the store for a trade or upgrade my tank.

blj1234 stop letting people tell you what to do if it works for than do it , at one time hav had a french angel
porky puffer
huma
and eel in a 29 for a while so if you can get it to work do it , its your tank do what you want if it works good if not try again no ones perfect
