We got a reef package from swf.com for 30 -90 gallons.It had scarlet crabs(20), blue crabs(20), nassarius snails(10), emerald crabs(5), 1 carol banded shrimp,1 sally lightfood crab, turbo/astrea snails(20) and 2 cleaner clams.I have 55 gallon tank with370 watts of light and the water is good.
Anyways 4 of our turbo snails have been eaten and about 4 scarlet crabs. does any one have an idea who is eating what?
And when the cleaner clams go under the sand do you ever see them again?
Also our shrimp just kind of stays behind the rock- he eats but doesn't move far, should we get another one?we would kind of like to see him come to the front of the tank.
:notsure:

"the water is good"
Do you have specifics?
Salinity especially.
Is there any damage to the shells of the dead snails?

do you have any fish???
are you sure they are being eaten or are the snail just molting.
clams dig under water....shrimp always hide except at night and sometimes to sneak food. crabs do the same.

You mean the crabs, eh? Snails don't molt.

salinity is perfect- in the green zone(1.023).And no damage to the shells.
what are you useing to measure salinity? of of those thermometer bobbing type meters? if so they are very inacurate and hard to read!! I suggest a refractometer to get a precise reading to low or high can harm inverts big time.
also the hermits could be eating the snails they will pull them out of the shell and eat them or take over there home. so do you have any extra shells in there for them to choose from.
Next thing is that when you come on and say that all your readings are fine what people really need is your actuall readings from the tank.
Like ammonia = ?
nitrite=?
nitrate=?
ph=?
salinity=?
these should all have a numerical number for the reading so someone might see something your not.

we do have the bobbing one, so we will go get the refractometer today.
ammonia is 0,ph is 8.0, nitrate is about 20ppm, nitrite is.025
