snails / cleaner shrimp

I'm starting a 29G reef tank. is it really necessary to add snails? i'm afraid of getting a tank full of snails.
how many cleaner shrimp should i put in?

I have a 29 gal also, i heard as many as 1 snail per gallon- i'm going to add 10 to begin with. you will also need hermits- i'm adding 10 of those as well.

i knew about the hermits, but very wary about getting snails. saw what happens when i was a kid. when you buy one. you get a tank full later.

I think what you are referring to is more with freshwater snails. Supposedly, saltwater snails are very difficult to breed in captivity.

Only as many as you want.
