If you think they are dieing because there "isnt enough for them to eat." then why did you get two more?
Why not just let the one go and see what happens? Not trying to be rude, just didnt make any sence to me.

well from what I have been told by friends.... the mexican turbos are very large eaters.... so I am downsizig so to speak to the much smaller turbo snails.... there about 1/4 of the size of the mexicans... there are 4 of them in there now and they are all on top of the rocks making them white again lol
and no worries about the rude thing... didnt make sense to me either lol

anyone know why my Mexican turbo snails keep dying after a couple days? this is 2 since i have had the tank! everything else in the tank is doing great! (knock on wood) water parameters are all fine and everything is normal. anyone got any ideas??

These snails require natural sea water Salinity. Nothing less will do. They also need a LOT of Diatoms to eat but it takes them weeks to starve so I doubt that's the problem.
They are very sensitive to osmotic shock so if they are not drip acclimated they can suffer.

what is the "natural sea salinity?" never heard anyone say that before lol and they seem to be doing fine with the 2 hour acclimation... the first set of turbos were only acclimated for 30-45 mins or so and are still alive...

which is it?

while you're at it, how's your calcium?? copper? phosphates?
This mejicans are intolerable to the fluctuations/abundance of this parameters..They demand calcium since their shell is in constant growth, thus fleshy mantle deposits the calcium based construction material on a continual basis...They have high standards of water chemistry and diet..

well I have 2 different types of snails in there... the large Mexicans and the regular turbos which are about half the size of the Mexican ones... the large ones die after a few days but the small ones are doing fine... maybe the large Mexican ones are dying because of the water temp fluctuation I had with a faulty heater?? calcium was fine last time I had it checked, like a week or so ago.

I just threw my mexican turbos into the tank after temp accumlating them. Everyone of them is still alive. I also had a temp increase the other week and they lived thru that as well. You may need to wait and let some algae grow before you put them in. I waited almost two years.
