It looks a lot like a Keyhole Limpet (not a true Limpet). If so they are omnivores, not herbivores.
Does it have a hole in the top like a volcano?

Wow, now I'm going to have to check all of mine with a magnifying glass..... I don't THINK they have openings in the top but would it be obvious/visible to the

[hr]
eye if they do?

it looks like it's The Tortoise-shell Limpet from what came up on google search

I seem to recall that the Tortoise-shell Limpet is a cold water animal that wouldn't survive long in a tropical tank.
So, it has no hole in the top? If it has no hole then it's probably a true Limpet.

i looked again...they DO have holes in top.
I knew they would
I recognized the shell.
They're not terrible. Actually they are one of the few animals that can scour Hair algae off a rock. I've seen them leave a trail of clean rock through a colony of hydroids. I don't know any other animal that can do that.
On the down side, I've seen them remove the skin off a Leather Coral.
