I seem to recall that the Tortoise-shell Limpet is a cold water animal that wouldn't survive long in a tropical tank.
So, it has no hole in the top? If it has no hole then it's probably a true Limpet.

I recognized the shell.
They're not terrible. Actually they are one of the few animals that can scour Hair algae off a rock. I've seen them leave a trail of clean rock through a colony of hydroids. I don't know any other animal that can do that.
On the down side, I've seen them remove the skin off a Leather Coral.
