SNAPPED!!

For months, our three fish got along fine; HERBert the LMB, Skittles the 6-line and Dottie the Royal Gramma. Until today.
Skittles and Dottie had always had intense conversation, but never had it resulted in blows. Until today.
Herbert would usually get between the two and remind them that they are very lucky to live in such a fine tank and belong to loving owners. Usually Dottie and Skittles would agree, nod to each other and go about their business. Until today.
Dottie is the oldest in the tank. It was made clear to all that she has tenure above all others. A word from Herbert was always sufficient to remind Skittles to behave. Until today.

Greedy SOB only took 2 minutes to trap. I hope to get a bunch of snails for him tomorrow. Bassturd.
Now I have a Royal Gramma with ripped fins and missing scales to heal up.
Herbert came to the edge of the trap, reminding Skittles that he tried to reason with him, telling him that he would probably end up in some 9 year old's 10g.
See ya, Skittles, you did it to yourself.

LOL....are you gonna trade him in?
Yep, its going back to the LFS this evening.
I need more snails anyway.
I haven't seen the RG since the intervention, hopefully the CUC won't
have to respond to a "clean up on aisle 3" call this evening...

Joe, that is an impressive trap you used there, you are a funny BASStard, LOL.
Thanks Al, I posted a diagram of the mods to it in another thread a few weeks back. It works
very well. The longest I've had to wait to catch a target fish so far is about an hour (or 3 beers,
depending on how you want to measure).

Yup we hear of six lines going rogue very often.
yeah, I've read the reports and have been concerned for a while now.
Next on the stocking list has been a pair of Firefish; was very concerned about
how the Sixline would react.
It is no longer a problem.

Gonna have to keep your eye on the RB with any new additions now.
Yeah, I know. I've been tossing around the idea that if we do get a pair of FF, to switcheroo them
with the RG in the QT for a week or 2, then put the RG back in the DT.
Don't know if that would really help or not. Final fish will be either a CB or Flame.

I would make the RB the last fish if possible to keep it out until the rest of crew is in and established. They can be nasty little buggers too.

I think you have snapped Slice! Who names their fish?

Man that trap seems to work really well for you. I still need to borrow it!
I never had any problems with six lines but I always seem to have a bully fish already when I added a six line.

The wife names the fish, the coral, the snails...she even named a spaghetti worm "Luigi" once....
Update on the aftermath:
I got home last evening hoping to find Dottie...ok mrdc...the Royal Gramma, out from under the rock moving around without too much of a limp.
Instead, with a dorsal fin chomped up, pectoral fins shredded and a beat up head, it acted ready for round 2 (obviously emboldened by the Sixline
being in the trap, unable to respond).
I was *nearly* able to get a pic of the Sixline, still in the trap, and the RG on the outside, noses against the acrylic, doing their "My mouth is bigger" thing, with the LMB on the nearest rock, watching. I would have added the captions:
RG: "Well just look at you! Not so tough anymore, are you? Huh? HUH?!?
"
SL: :"Shut up already"
LMB: "BOTH OF YOU, SHUTUP!!"
It would have been funny.
The Sixline is now in the 10g QT until later this week, when it goes back to the LFS.
Our stocking list is under review...

We name all of our fish
Like your trap by the way. Could have used that a time or two!

Thanks! I've used the coke bottle DYI traps, but found them to be far to indiscriminate; I am always removing it to let the wrong captive out after it ate all the bait. This trap can be left indefinitely, baited while in the tank and will only trap the intended victim.
I've made an additional mod since I last posted the diagram, a hole in the top for baiting with a turkey baster.

Wow...thanks for the info. I need to get my glasses out to read it--lol. I am going to save the info for future reference. I have tried the coke bottle method and the only thing I have ever caught was my snails, for some reason the fish won't go near it.

Put the trap in the tank and ONLY feed them inside it, using the turkey baster through the top hole. They will go in if they eventually want to eat.
