I hear my clownfish clicking ALL THE TIME. But she is a really pissy fish. She makes those sounds when she is chasing other fish away from her eggs that she just laid (she lays them like every 3 weeks. Its nuts). We call her momma bear. She very interesting to watch and has such a personality.

I drove myself nuttzy a while back and did late night stakeouts and the whole bit to try and catch the phantom Mantis.
Turned out it was my heater clicking on and off. Rule out as many possibilities before scaring yourself when you hear the dreaded clicking noise.

Do the eggs ever hatch?

I ruled the heaters out because they are down and to the right of the main tank in the sump Away from the sounds. But thanks, i will keep it in mind.

maybe starve your tank for a few days, or feed it very lightly. Then create a feeding frenzy and see who is hungry and comes out to show face.

I would, but I’m afraid that my 12” green brittle may climb out of the tank and eat my cat.

Nope. And they never have for the three years that the previous owner had the tank and the fish... I think momma bear may actually may be the one that is eating them.

I have a pretty nice size pistol and he snaps in rapid intervals, also look for a mound of sand, mind hides under a rock he removed the sand from.

My clowns are acting goofy, and the female has a rather large under side. It could be that she is getting ready to make a nest.
If this is the case, and from what I have read on clown fish hatchlings in a search on this forum. There is not much of a chance that they will survive if they even hatch at all.

I have noted a hole up under one of the rocks that is about an inch in diameter. But one of the brittles are in there now hiding and I have not seen anything yet. Will they do this mining work at night only? Or do you see them during the day as well?
