No that one will not work. That is for a outside flood light. There is a difference in the metal halide lamp, that makes it unusable for inside aquariums. Try typing metal halide lighting for reef aquariums in a search site.

First I wanna say.. that I am not suggesting that keeping it under pc's is a good idea.. im just telling you what experience i've had (so far).
I have mine about 10 or so inches from the BOTTOM of the tank. It has burried itself in a rock.. I'd personally like to get it higher but the tank its in really has a 'lack of rock' situation going :p
Its in a 55 gallon tank with 4 65 watt pcs.
My suggestion to you to try and give it every chance possible would be to get it out of the sand and place it as high as possible on a rock and make sure that it is getting FLOW directly to it.. not strong flow but some sort of flow to make sure its able to get its food.
Feed various planktons to your tank to make sure its getting food. Dont get crappy phytoplankton either... get the good live stuff to make sure that thing is as healthy as possible.. and keep your calcium where it needs to be.
and marry that girl you idiot... 6 years??? she bought you a clam??? dude.... whats wrong with you?

VHO would let you keep a clam with that much of it. but the question is, what type of clam and how long have you had it?
speg: that is a good idea aout the girl. mine jsut gets jelous with the hobby. even after i named a pair of ocellarus clownfish after us! lol

Odds are your LFS holding tank did not have halides for the clam either so he is probably going to tell you anything he thinks necessary to get you to keep the clam. Depending on how long it languished at the LFS and the lack of lighting it is continuing under now the clams days could be shorter than you think. Basically here are your options.
Return to LFS and let it die in his tank. Not a good option and of course I am assuming the worst of the LFS and a lack of halides there.
Purchase a new halide for your tank. The clip on coralife should do the trick to spot light him.
Check to see if there are any reef clubs in your area. Someone might be selling some used halides and if not there may be someone in the club willing to give your clam a suitable home until you can make arrangements to keep him yourself. This is also a good way to get acquainted with others in the hobby to share knowledge/equipment/livestock with and not have to rely on a LFS or a faceless adviser on a Internet forum for advice and information.
Good luck with your tank.
