Ok...
I know people are being taught that winning isn't everything. I know that kids are supposed to think more about the team and teamwork, blah blah blah...
I think this is a little rediculous...

carrying your competition around the bases to help them win?? that's the equivalent of handing your competition your patents...

There was some talk radio guy talking about this and yadda yadda ya, went on to say how good of a symbol this was and stuff. And honestly, I would have said (unless this some something competitive.) go ahead it is fine whatever she hit the bomb. But the moron broke her leg JOGGING a round the bases.

No, she twisted her knee turning around because she missed first base..
Wow......
I think I might have to give this one a pass though, the girls who helped, thought and did it on their own. I would all over this, if like the opponents coach told them to go help or something. And the fact it really didn't matter, they went up 3 to 2, so her run only made it 4-2.
To be honest, though, I either would have peg-legged it around all the bases, or drag my sorry ... with my elbows around the bases. Cool Runnings style, totaly more worth it to finish yourself.

if you know the whole story i think it is good sportsmanship...like the girls said she hit a home run she deserved for it to count...the girl couldnt get a pinch runner because then it would only count as a single and she was in to much pain with a torn acl to even walk...yeah its not typical of opponents to do but that is because there is barely any sportsmanship left in sports....i believe in playing hard, aggressive and having somewhat of a swagger but i see no reason in being an A-hole...playing football i always help someone up i wasnt pushing or throwing people off my teamates just to get to my teamate up

I'm sorry
I'm injured herself to the point she couldn't make it 130 feet while rounding first base on a home run! This wasn't her running the bases!

i dont know what to say about her hurting herself but i think it takes a lot of courage and good sportsmanship for an opponent to do that ive been playing football for over 11yrs and i have never seen anything like that

imo running the bases is just as imporant part of a home run as hitting the ball over the fence. Or else they'd just hit the home run and walk back to the dugout. If she has rounded the bases but was called out on an appeal because she missed second, that wouldn't be bad sportsmanship.

What the heck? What is that matter with you guys? Some of you guys are making fun of a girl who tore her ACL while running the bases. I bet if you tore your ACl while running the bases or however you did it, you wouldn't think it was funny..
Great sportsmanship by the other team...she deserved that hit. I bow down to the other team

If I remember right she had already hit a home run it was just the act that was left of running the bases. I personally think it was a good thing they helped her to complete what she had already accomplished by hitting the home run. JMO though we need more people like that that will help others out when they need the help.

as someone who played ball in college, I've RUN the bases millions of times at full speed. (not that I was particularly fast) Never blew my knee.
I'm simply pointing out that this girl has already hit the home run, and was jogging the bases after an out of the field home run and blew her knee.
That has to be difficult to do. Part of a home run is rounding the bases. It be like her hitting a ball to the pitcher and then saying oh she could round the bases but not hit the ball over the fence we should just not field the ball and let her round the bases because she could. It isn't bad sportsmanship, it part of the game. Bad sportsmanship would have been tripping her then spiking her. Then saying you have to make it around the bases for the homer.
But that being said, unless it was a real game I would have let her score.

we're obviously in the minority on this one, which is why i'm not saying anything more.
i don't think it has anything to do with sportsmanship...no GUYS would carry someone around the bases...

maybe no "guys" would, but a "true athlete would"

Are guys sure she tore her ACL? I thought she only twisted/sprained her knee, which would be quite acceptable IMO to laugh at/with, especially since she want running BACK to first base after missing it. It's not like she was just troting the bases and there was an unusual divot or something. But if she tore her ACL, not so much funny.
I think they made a better deal out of her getting a homerun then necessary though. Do you know how many defensive football players go without scoring a touchdown? Or how many goalie's never score a goal?

If I remember right, it was a walk off over the fence home run. And she didn't make it around the bases.
So she should have been trotting around the bases.
