Dear friends,
As you may know, right-wing talk show hosts have been bringing race-based fear mongering into the mainstream, but FOX's Glenn Beck just took it to another level. On Tuesday, Beck said:
This president has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep-seated hatred for white people... this guy is, I believe, a racist.
It's part of a larger argument Beck has been making: that President Obama wants to serve the needs of Black communities at White people's expense. This kind of talk stirs up fear, hate, and it can lead to violence.
I've joined ColorOfChange.org's effort to stop Glenn Beck. ColorOfChange is already putting calls into Beck's advertisers, asking them if they want to be associated with this kind of racist hate and fear-mongering. When the advertisers see that tens of thousands of us are behind that question, I believe they'll move their advertising dollars elsewhere, and his show and platform will be history.
Will you take a stand and be counted, and invite your friends and family to do the same? It takes just a moment:

Glenn Beck is appealing to the worst in America. Of course, some Americans refuse to accept the fact that our president is Black or the idea that he could truly serve all Americans. But the only way these views fade away is if they're not reinforced by mainstream society. Instead, folks like Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, and Rush Limbaugh are exploiting racism and race-based fear to bump their ratings, stirring up racial discord in the process.
The dangers of these tactics are real. We saw the same dynamic during the presidential race: By the end, the McCain/Palin campaign was unable to control the violent energy whipped up by their race-baiting. It resulted in an unprecedented number of threats on Obama's life, a rise in the number of hate groups, and an increase in the number of threats and crimes against immigrants and Black people.
FOX has a horrible track record on pushing racist propaganda, but Glenn Beck appears to be taking the network to an even lower standard. He's trying to divide and distract America when we should be coming together and talking about issues that really matter--like health care and the economy.
The good news is that we have the power to stop this. All major media is funded by advertising. And advertisers care more than anything what consumers think. If we want to change what's happening and put an end to folks like Glenn Beck having a platform, we can do it.
It's up to us, and it can start now. Please join me:

Thanks.

Wow! Beck must be hitting a nerve. NOBODY, Obama included could have sat in Rev. Wright's church as long as Obama did if they didn't agree with some of the racist crap that guy was saying from the pulpit.

I am first going to say that I did vote for Obama. Now that that is out of the way, a lot of issues that have come up are true and it isnt just racism. I am going to stop there, so that I dont start an argument.

I personally find him very slightly less looney than Rush or Hannity. Still looney though.
That having been said, Glenn Beck should absolutely not be stopped from having a platform.
If we can't think our way out of the bag into which he spews, then we deserve what we get.
If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.

Nobody wants to shut ACORN up or anything like that... but if Beck or Rush says something -- end of the world stop them they can't say that it isn't fair.
Turn the channel if you don't like it.
Funny how people who hate Rush really have no reason or have listened to him for a week. You don't have to agree with him but nobody does their homework better.

I completely agree with Beck. I think Obama is the worst president this country has ever seen. And as posted above freedom of speech is a great thing. If somone does not like what they see then change the channel. If Obama has his way the fairness doctrine will take care of our freedoms.

I too believe that Obama is a racist. he goes to Wright's church for 20 years. then, he makes a blind statement about a white cop on national television in favor of a guy who is very clearly a racist. yep, seems to me that Obama IS a racist, so maybe I need to start watching Beck. sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
I clicked on the your link and tried to find the petition that we can sign about Jeannene Garafolo making racial comments about anti-Obama protesters. couldn't find it. where is it? I mean, if we want people to stop making unfounded comments on race, we shouldn't pick and choose right? that would be kind of hypocritical.

It is fitting where Beck fell... Rupert Murdoch, who had dual Australian-American citizenship.

The only time I watch Beck is when there's no other comedy show on, and I need a good laugh.
As far as Obama being a racist -
I think Obama is proud of his heritage, and is willing to side with his 'roots' when it comes to a debate on color and ethnicity. He claims to be unbiased, but there have been several situations in the past that have shown otherwise. It does bother me somewhat that the African American community in this country has made such a big deal that 'they' now have someone in the Presidency. The second coming of MLK. Obama has even stated that if he can be elected to the highest office in the land, anyone, no matter what race, can strive to do the same. If I read the Constitution correctly, that's always been the case. I guess I'm just getting tired of the 'flaunting' that Obama is the 'Black President', not just 'The President'. Even during that grand inauguration party he had after his oath. Everytime they panned the audience, you would see Oprah, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or some other famous black person being showcased crying, "This is the greatest day in African American history." Then shouting, "Yes We Can!". Kind of hypocritical if you ask me. One of the wealthiest women IN THE WORLD, crying "Yes we can!".

I think this is the first time I have ever agreed with you. And I must say well stated. Come on over to our side we will show you the light.

Beck calls Obama a racist.
Bill Maher calls Christians nutbags and morons.
Show me the difference. I wouldn't stop either of them from saying what they feel.
On a sidenote, I don't see Obama as Racist, I see him as the kid that just wants to fit in so will say what he "thinks" people want him to say so he can be "cool".

But you have no issue with a president who sat in the church of a racist for like 20 years?
Oh. and it's pretty obvious what wright was preaching rubbed off on Obama. What was Obama's comment about his "white Grandma"?

Is there a problem with someone who legally immigrates to this country and keeps his home country citizenship as well? You appear to support a party that favors giving people who broke into the country the rights and privileges law abiding folks get, why would you have an issue with Murdoch?
