My shark and ray are the cornerstones of this tank... in my tank I love my shark the best. But if I only had one I'd go with the stingray. My stingray is very active and always provides entertainment. Most stingrays, mine included, are also very friendly and will gladly eat from your hand. Great fish, never been aggressive at all, never knocked over my rocks. Also aside from blue-dots, most other species are very hardy in aquariums. With just a small shark, your tank will not provide the entertainment that a stingray would provide.

does your ray swim all over? Like in to rocks and other fish? Would a lionfish be ok with a ray? how big is yours?

My ray swims over every inch of this tank. He hovers over the rocks and generally avoids other fish. I've had another ray with a lionfish and they were ok. My ray's about 6" across (grew from 4" within a year).
