remember if you do not have a skimmer as of yet you have to factor in the pump foot print. most if not all manufacturers give you skimmer dimensions with out the pump attached. IMO do no put the skimmer in the same chamber with sand

Not to hijack but I was just wondering if Bang could post a pic of his Homemade skimmer? Always wanted to see someones homemade PS.

hmmm. Yeah that was my thought.
Well I think for right now, I am gonna keep the sump I made and just add a separate fuge later. I am not sure that this system will be able to sustain things like macro right off the bat anyway. I have never had any issues with nitrates or anything like that. And my macro always dies off. Probably because it doesn't have anything to eat?

I was going to do this when I added my refugium. Then I decided to leave my existing plumbing as is and just added an additional small pump. I have a rio800 pumping from my sump to my refugium. The refugium overflows back into the sump.
At some point I may add a T and a valve to plumb my fuge into the overflow from my DT, but this works for now.
