this is a pretty stupid question but if i get a PC light with 2 65 watt lights does that mean i have 65 watts of light or 130 watts of light??

If you haven't bought it yet don't. Go ahead and buy the 260 watt pc. It will be enough for most softies and lps. with the 130 watt pc you would be very limited and you can get a 260 watt for little over $100 on certain sites. definatley worth the difference. I have 260 watt on my 75 and it looks great. Here's a pic.

weather you can even get the 260 definatly depends on what size tank you have...... since you are looking for 2x65 wattage i am guessing that you have a tank that is 24 inches wide. I do not believe that they make a 260 watt setup for a tank that size. However, depending on the tank (width) you can get two of the 130 watt ones. This will obviously add a lot more light. But 130 watts be fine on a smaller tank, while it will not be suitible for many things on a 75 like the one above.

You never said why you were getting PC lighting, so I am going to asume that it was some reason other than cost. If you have the money, do yourself a favor and buy metal halide lighting.

If you are just starting with corals start with soft ones like moshrooms or leathers maybe some green star polps they are good for starters then you can work your way into hard corals
