My wife just called me and said the Flame Angel is all jacked up and dead. He was fine lastnight about midnight, swimming and eating. I left for work this morning at 6am, and she just checked the tank to feed the frozen mysis. What killed the angel? It was found by where the peppermints are always at. Could they have claimed this as territory and killed the angel at night? I got the angel on monday.
This is what I have in the tank:
3 peppermint shrimp
1 blood red shrimp
1 mandarin dragonet
1 foxface
2 false percula clownfish
1 copperband butterfly
1 naso tang
1 blue hippo tang
1 sixline wrasse
1 golden headed sleeper goby
1 arrow crab
1 emerald crab
1 brittle star
12 hermits (blue legged and red)
11 black margarita snails
8 nassarius snails
5 cerith snails

highly doubt its the shrimp. More than likely a territorial problem with one of your other fish. which one though i couldn't say. I know my clowns get agressive twoards anything near their host ....or my hand.

how big is your tank?
clowns can get aggressive. Mine is but I had a rusty dwarf angel, he didnt mess with him and then I traded the rusty in for a bi color angel, still doesnt mess with him.
although he will mess with my chromis, who just dodges him with his speed.

If in deed they are all in the 55 gallon tank, I would say that it is a bad idea to have that manny fish in that size tank.

Yea I do have a 55 gallon tank, but will soon be upgrading to a 125 gallon. I haven't seen any mantis shrimp, but this is the second time this has happened. I had another flame and it was killed in the same spot
