Hey SWF nano-reefers, It's been a while since I've been on here (formerly S0VIETTAC0) but I'm back and will be restarting my JBJ Nano-Cube from the ground up. It will probably be a good few weeks or more until I am truly back into the full swing of things and being able to post and check this diary everyday.
For now I just wanted to say hi and that if you would like to help me out with figuring out which LED fixture to go with you can comment on a lighting thread I've begun. Here is the link to it.

Thanks and happy reefing!
Btw here is a pic of the cube back in it's prime.

Welcome back!!
Nice looking reef you had there. Are you aiming for the same type setup. Besides LED's any other upgrades to the NC??

Thanks for all of the kind words everybody! I'll be moving next Saturday and from that point on I will be starting the re-build, I seriously can't wait for it. The best part too is being able to share my tank again with family and friends, and you guys too. I'd still like some input on my lighting issue though if you guys want to help out.

^^^^^^^^
Which one should I go with?

Welcome back! I just wanted to say hello...I don't know about those kinds of lights to be of any help, sorry. I'm with Sweatervest...what are your plans this time around?

Well to answer Sweatervest's and Flower's question I am aiming to do the same type of tank in terms of livestock, 2-3 small fish, lots of cool inverts (mostly different crustaceans) softies and lps.
As for the set up that will be different from before, the LED fixture (to be determined), I'm going to mess around with the layout of the back of the tank for the refugium and such. I want to at some point possibly put a sump in the cabinet below with a skimmer and fuge. I also don't have an aquarium controller or an RO/DI Unit yet but that's something I'd like to add. Finally I want to get a better pump and another Hydro Koralia for better circulation. But these are all things that will happen over time, and what's nice is it's stuff that will allow me to move into a bigger and better tank in a few years or so. Not anything really that special but it will make for a better tank.

Awesome...if the bio-cube is 29g and has a built in top...what about a fairy or flasher wrasse? A super bright color of fish that likes to carpet surf

Solid plan. More filtration and more movement. You really can't go wrong.
I like the just a few fish plan. Doesn't take away from the corals. LOL
I'll check out the LED thread you have.
Keep us posted!!

I really do want to get a flasher wrasse, or at least some type of wrasse cause of the colors and how active they are. The only issue is that I've been told they will eat all my crustaceans, haha. Though now after researching it a bit I can't find any info that this would actually happen..... Looks like I may be getting one!
By the way a little update for you. I've finally moved the tank to the new place which was a bit of a pain but it's all good now. I threw a beastly large koralia PH in there which looks a little ridiculous next to my old one but whatever. Hopefully this won't create too much flow. Though I am thinking about getting a Hydor wave controller so I'd have some control over that I guess.
So basically right now I am cycling the tank, I need to get test kits cause I'm all out of my old stuff that way I can keep track of my parameters. But other than that things are running smoothly and hopefully soon I can start to seriously think about livestock selections!
And yes I will be taking it slow. I ain't no dummy.

I'm a little slow. Welcome back! You were the guy with the sweet beard, right? Anyway, I look forward to seeing some pictures. Hopefully you can get that tank back to its original level of awesome and hopefully beyond.

Ok, right now I am at school so I cannot post pics and probably won't get those on here till really late tonight, or sometime during the day tomorrow.
As for parameters
PH: 7.8 (I added a buffer for a quick fix, so I'll keep you updated on that. Though in the future I will handle PH issues with water changes)
Ammonia: 0
Nitrates: 0
Nitrites: 0
SG: 1.024
I also added more to the CUC which was already in there (just a few of blue legs)
2 electric blue hermits
2 scarlet hermets
6 blue leg hermets
6 astrea snails
All of which are incredibly small. Can't wait to watch them grow into beasts.
I also came across a crab species which I have never scene before, I am a little worried that it may decimate future livestock as the first thing it tried to do in my tank was go after an astrea but I'm going to keep an eye on it and if it's not meant to be I'll either sell him back to the LFS or attempt to build a sump where he can be exiled to. He was just too cool to pass up on.
This is what this particular crab sort of looks like. Except significantly less barbs and the claw, and body structure is different (the claws are much more boxy and fine tipped, which screams predator but oh well). I'm guessing it is some form of spider crab species but have found nothing on it yet. I will have actual photos of it later.

Hoping to slowly start reefing, again.... haha. Maybe I'll stick around this time. The tank is still doing well it's just pretty dang empty. GSP and a CUC, that's about it :/ but it's definitely in need of a serious coralline algae removal session.

Parameters as of 8-26-13
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
PH: 8
SG: 1.026 ( I'm going to do a top off) right now
Livestock right now is just a cuc but a pretty diverse one.
10 astreas
5 blue leg hermits
5 scarlet leg hermits
1 emerald crab
1 white porcelain crab
1 green porcelain crab
1 blood shrimp
1 halloween hemit.
I plan on adding a pair of the dwarf gold banded coral shrimp, a pom pom crab, possibly a skunk cleaner shrimp, as well as a tuxedo urchin in a week or two. I really want to add a pack of sexies, can you tell I still love my inverts? But..... I fear the coral banded shrimp may go after them.
