Sure looks like it. Does it react when you touch it though?

Don't know, I have never touched it. But it always looks the same.

Probably is a sponge then. I'm just starting to learn about these things so I don't know specific names (you'll have to wait for an expert to chime in) but it looks like it shares characteristics with a pineapple sponges and the like.
