agree...
Look what he did last year with no support.
I think Beckett is ready to go as well

[/QUOTE]1 - Schill
2 - K Dice
3 - Beckett
4 - Paps
5 - Wake
MR - Hanson
Setup - Lester ,
Closer - Timlin , Tavy
Daisuke, as of right now, has been named the number 3 starter so I am assuming that beckett will be number 2. IMO I think they are gonna try Hansen or Delcarmen as the closer and if all that fails make it Timlin. I would love to see Hansen come out this year with that 98 mph heater he had in his debut 2 years ago in Tampa (I still remember that game. He was throwing HEAT
) lol

I was just going off a magazine i was reading in raleys.
Hansen I could see closing I think that Delcarmen still needs some time in the minors. I seriously dont want Timlin closing that is flat out scary.
Never happen but just to throw it out their , could you see a knuckler close games , would be risky.

They signed Joel Piniero to be the closer. I think it's his job to lose. Branden Donnelly could be in the running too. I can't see them bringing Wakefield out to close a game with runners on base. I'd like to see him in middle relief. If one of starters starts getting shelled they could bring him in to mess up the hitters timing.

That would be awesome. Donnely would be a good move.... lets just hope we get all of our slowness and bad streaks out in spring training then take the east by 15 games with the Yankmees finishing 3rd

Anyway to add friends on here , I would like some fellow Bostonians (or surrounding areas) to talk to on this site.
How do you all feel about ManRam coming into Spring training on March 1st for the 2nd year in a row?
Personally I dont mind ....
1. Papi protection
2. always over 100 Ribies
How many HR's will Papi get this season?
How many HR's will Manny get with Drew's protection?
I hear ESPN anylists saying he could take Mcguire's record this year if he doesnt have Mystery Heart problems.
That was scary

so i take it that you guys dont mind that you have turned into what the yankees were by not answering my question. i mean correct me if i wrong but werent you guys the ones who complained all the time when the yankees dropped big time money on players? seems to me that you all have turned into yankees part 2.

I dont think that is true, The yankees drop big money every year on players that are not needed , the redsox filled holes with players that they needed and would be best for the club .... I would have loved to see Nixon come back. But I alkso believe Drew was a Updrade.
Abrue however was not needed but the yankmees picked him up anyway.

I don't care who spends what. That's what the salary cap's for. If the owners that benefit from the luxury tax would put the money into their teams instead of their pockets they could "drop big money" too.

not all the small market teams have big time tv contracts like the yanks mets and bosox, thats why there is small market teams.

I dont have a problem with Manny showing up late either. He says that he is tending to his mother who just had surgery and that he is in great shape and happy to be in Boston. I think Papi will be up around 60 HR's and Manny around 40-45. And I agree that was very scary when Ortiz had those heart problems. The whole city of Boston was. Just shows how much we care about our team. Lets hope that doesnt happen again.

Red Sox fan here too. I'm not to worried about manny showing up late. As long as he's in good shape and he does show up at some point thats all i care about. He's been one of the most consistent players ever. For the last 8+ years he's hit around 300 with 30 hr's and 100 RBI's. Manny is messed up in the head but the guy is one of the hardest working guys on the team. From what i've read he's in the batting cages or lifting weights all the time, but those are good things so you don't hear about them much.
As for the line up it should be very good as long as Drew is healthy. He is one of the most underrated players out there because of his injuries. Even with his injuries he puts up stats that rank him with the top RF's in the game and he plays soild D.
Dicek to me will be a solid addtion to the rotation. This isn't Nomo or some of the other japan pitchers that have come over. He throws 5-6 pitchs which are all plus pitches and knows how to set up batters.

How about Ojikama or whatever? He could take a spot in the pen maybe even closer role. What ever happened to David Pauley , he had a couple solid games then he dissapeared
From what I read it sounds like Lester will be used in Mid relief and if somebody goes down he MAY take a starting spot.

As you can tell I'm a cubs fan and I agree, they still dont have any starting pitching. Prior will never be as good as he could have been. When he came back last year he was just out there throwing batting practice to the other team, all fast balls over the plate, he has no other pitches anymore. Kerry I believe there is still hope for, he doesn't act like hes afraid to throw pitches to the hitters. Just needs to keep that arm healthy. And of course Z is a horse, always out there giving everything he has. I almost feel sorry hes with our club. They wasted all their money on offense for the long ball but forgot that pitching wins championships.
p.s. tickets go on sale Friday

Ojikama could surprise alot of people he has flown under the radar because of dicek. I don't know if he'll be good enough to be a closer but i wouldn't be surprised if he was our setup guy.
Dave pauly is still around i think he went back to the minors last year. He would be a good number 5 starter on most teams but not on the red sox... I wouldn't mind him as our long/middle man if something does happen and lester has to go into the rotation. Over all i think if we could find a closer that our bull pen isn't that bad. Darven hansack could be a surprise closer he has nasty stuff and was the only red sox pitcher to through a no hitter last year... though it was only 5 or 6 innings

Ojikama could goto Pawtucket for awhile ... the reason I was thinking he should be a closer is because the Japanese pitchers have extreme amounts of control and command on their pitches. Hansack is an awesome pitcher he will suprise alot of people this year.
Im hoping Lowell can extend his level of play to this season. He had a great year last year .... I was sad to see Lorreta go mainly because he used the monster to his advantage ... he was a double master , I hope Pedrioa is able to get us some doubles as well as Lugo .... I wonder if Francona is going to start Running more with Crisp AND lugo in the lineup. What upset me last year is Crisp would go with no signal with 2 outs get caught and repeatedly take away runs from Papi.

I remember when reporters were saying the Redsox were gonna go after Bonds if the Drew deal fell through..... I dont know where these people are getting their information. The redsox dont need another DH and that is all Bonds could ever be in fenway. He can hardly play a easy left field in SF .... what makes people think he would be able to play a hard right ini Fenway? WMP has problems with right and he is a toned athlete
