Do you actually like Bonds? If thats the case, you'd be the first person Ive seen admit that.

Kerry I believe there is still hope for, he doesn't act like hes afraid to throw pitches to the hitters. Just needs to keep that arm healthy. And of course Z is a horse, always out there giving everything he has. I almost feel sorry hes with our club. They wasted all their money on offense for the long ball but forgot that pitching wins championships.
p.s. tickets go on sale Friday
I'm afraid after all that money spent they may not even make the playoffs. Lilly? Marquis? Laughable. Since they're in the NL now their ERAs might drop as low as 4.50. Marquis already has been, my mistake. Doh! A healthy Wood as closer would be exciting to watch.

he's a d-bag off field, but an extremely talented player. and, in the end, if im going to a game, im not paying to see him be a nice guy.

I like Bonds to , and want to see him get the record. You cant blame a guy for what hasnt been proved.. innocent untill proven guilty in USA. Nobodie has found any evidence that Bonds has or has not taken steriods ......... just a bunch of opinions based on distorted views.

Just like Sosa and mcGwire. Roids let him hit 73 after hitting 49 the previous year. That's proof if Ive ever seen it. All these guys are guilty of using roids but since there is no 'real' proof, they will get to go into the Hall with these tainted numbers.

Exactly, how does being a great athlete and having an awesome season make you a cheater .... Mike Lowell had a HORRIBLE season before he joined the Red Sox , look what he did last year. I would in no way accuse hi of roiding up ..... Big Papi was not great before he came to boston...... I would never mention his name and roids in the same sentence.

roger clemens is what, 43? 44?
and still throwing 100mph?
he must be on roids, right?
so bonds hit 24 more homeruns that following year (to make 73).
that was 24 more fastballs that were right over the plate that should have been curveballs or sliders. out of the average of 648 at bats. even alex rodriguez would hit 73 if the pitches were lobbed over the plate.
sorry- there is no debate about this.

There's a difference between improving from one year to the next but going from 49 homers to 73? Please. Look at Bonds' numbers drop out of the sky after the 73.
2000 SF 143 480 129 147 28 4 49
2001 SF 153 476 129 156 32 2 73
2002 SF 143 403 117 149 31 2 46
2003 SF 130 390 111 133 22 1 45
2004 SF 147 373 129 135 27 3 45
It's also not a coincidence that he hit those 73 after McGwire hit his 70 and 65.
Sosa is probably the worst as far as 'roid longevity is concerned:
1997 ChC 162 642 90 161 31 4 36
1998 ChC 159 643 134 198 20 0 66
1999 ChC 162 625 114 180 24 2 63
2000 ChC 156 604 106 193 38 1 50
2001 ChC 160 577 146 189 34 5 64
I don't care how good of a ball player you are. You dont improve 30-40 homers from one season to the next when you are already at that high of a number of HR without some help. Trust me when I say it helps to have played baseball all your life (and I still do) and notice things on your own baseball field and opponents let alone a pro ball players questionable stats and bulking up physically. It's all in the numbers and Im sorry that people are gullible enough not to notice the desparity.

for arguements sake, lets say a player plays in all 162 games per year, and each game bats 4 times, and faces and average of 5 pitches per at bat.
that 3240 pitches thrown at him (average) per year.
you mean to tell me that 24, or 13 or even 10 which dont quite go the way the pitcher wants and ends up over the wall indicates roids?
you play baseball all your life- you mean to tell me that you have never caught good wood on a curve that didnt have enough movement on it, or as a pitcher, never gave up a free lunch because there just wasnt enough "oomph" on your heater?
c'mon now.
seriously

It's not as simple as saying 24 more pitches weren't located right or that the pitcher took a little off to make up the desparity. It may not seem like it but 24 more pitches that become home runs instead of singles or extra-base hits is an exorbitant amount. That year, 2001, he was 36 and had 476AB and 73HR, thats one HR every 6.5 AB, an amazing ratio.
I searched and saw that Ryan Howard (26yrs old) hit 59 HR last year as a rookie, which is sick. And one would presume he was not on roids because of drug testing now. I know you cant always compare one athlete's talents to another because they face different obstacles. If Howard (at 26) goes on to hit 65-75 HR in any of his future years, and knowing there is drug testing now, I still may not believe Barry hit all those HR because of his 'talent' at 36. But between the Balco case, Canseco's accusations (which I believe), and the similarity to Sosa and McGwire between 1998-2001 there's too much there for me to believe Bond's or the rest of them were clean through all this. I do feel he is a great athlete but for at least 2001, there was something more.
Btw, I don't want you to think I was a 'know-it-all' simply because i said played baseball all my life. I just feel that through my experience of playing it helps to understand these things better than someone who hasnt. But of course we will all have our own ideas about how things went down because we may never know until proof is shown or violations admitted.

With all this Barry Bonds talk I'll just say I got my first pair of Sox tickets to a game against the Giants in Fenway. I cant wait to see what kind response he gets from the crowd. I personally do not like Bonds and would hate to see him get the record.

oh,
i wasn't taking it like that- actually, since you did play so much, i thought that you would have a better understanding than most other people.

Red Sox just clinched a playoff spot the other day!!!!!
Still hope they can get the division though. With only 6 games left I think they may have a pretty good shot at it.
