What is a good sps coral to start w/? I have MH and good flow I was wanting try my luck w/ a SPS what do you recommend.

What size/watt MH are you using and what size tank? Any type of monti would be perfect to start with. Good luck

I agree, Montipora is a good starter coral.

IMO Orange or Brown Montipora digitata is an excellent SPS to cut your teeth on.

I agee with the others that the digitatas are one of the easiest, just make sure you don't let it get out of hand, they can grow very fast.
I've always thought the Geen slimmers were pretty easy to keep.

by no means an SPS expert. However I have had good success, under VHO, with montipora capricornis (sp?). Both the red and green variety. However, the red grew much faster than the green.

FWIW, SPS corals are mostly carnivores, they will not eat phytoplankton.

I've had the best luck with monti digis, monti caps, and green slimers. They've all grown well with lots of light, good water, and decent flow.
