Ok that post confused me sep. I didn't get it back down to 1.009 right away because I had to leave and the fish were really stressed out at 1.008.
Why would it be a problem? I can't bring it back down to 1.009 and start the 4 week count fresh?
Osmosis can occur at 1.010, allowing ich to reproduce. You don't have to start the count over unless you see spots on your fish.
How is it going now?

sorry I haven't updated guys, dealing with a persistent concussion. my water is still at 1.010. I haven't done much besides feed my fish and top off. Many things are attributing to my not getting anything done but this isn't the forum for that. The good thing is that everybody is still eating. My kole tang is becoming less and less shy mostly because I am soaking the food in garlic now and he can't resist it. My blenny and kole attack the red algae sheets more than green but I'm feeding both, and feeding thera a+ pellets along with formula 2 pellets for the clowns and tang. I have tomorrow to gget everything together again and get hypo back on.
On another note... When everyone comes out of hypo they will have a 120g tank to go into instead of the 60

Get the water back to 1.009. It doesn't require you to do much more than pull a small amount of water out and add more top of water. I am sure you would hate to see all of this time wasted.

Excellent thread - thanks for this.

That is a very good thing! I was so worried about it and now I'm so excited to hear the good news that I am telling everybody

Back to the thread though, I'm glad to help. I just added more ro so Im back at 1.009. I have another 4 weeks of an empty display but that should give me enough time to sand/refinish my new 120 stand and set up in place of the current 60g display.

Nope... not kidding. My concussion symptoms kept getting worse so doctors originally thought that I had a slow bleed in my brain. Ct scans came out normal and now I'm happy again

Fish are all doing well, haven't noticed any spots but my dt still has to remain fishless for the next 4 weeks so I'll still keep the fish in hypo for 3 weeks, bring it back up over 1 and observe for 1 to be safe. I have lost too many fights with ich already and do not want to do it again.
Question on bringing the sg back up though... Can I just top off with sw in the beginning to raise it up slowly or do I HAVE to do wc's? I will still change the water for maintenance but I was thinking for the first day or 2 I could just top off with nsw.

ok thought I would update this...
This sunday will be 4 weeks of hyposalinity so I will begin bringing up the sg. All fish are happy and the kole tang is finally eating with gusto. Even the lawnmower blenny is eating spectrum pellets like a champ. 2 more weeks in qt and they will be in a much larger 120g tank
. I am very excited!!
