The best book out there on Scorpaeniformes is Frank Marini's Lionfishes and Other Scorpionfishes (< $10 from Amazon, and there's even a Kindle ver for like $8). Lots of good info and photos. In fact, besides the cover shot, many of Renee and my fish are shown in the book, but it's really a "must-have".
Reef Fishes vol 1 by Scott Michael has a good section on Scorpaeniformes, as well as anglers and even a pretty decent SH section. It's a well-used book here in our house. He also has a volume on butterflies and angelfish (we have the entire series).
For basic aquarium keeping Jay Hemdal's Advanced Marine Aquarium Techniques is right up there with Fenner's book (The Conscientious Marine Aquarium).
Books and research are part of the hobby, as much, or moreso than actually keeping the fish in a way. You'll never go wrong by getting a handle on things before you jump.
