Still Too High

Three weeks and my ammonia level hasn't dropped, it's still holding around .5 with 0 nitrite, 20 nitrate, sg of 1.026 and a Ph of 8.2 it's a 30 gallon with 15lbs of LR, 3 fish already in the tank, I've been using amino lock and TLC but I want to get the tank off chemicals. I'm also doing 10% water changes every 3 days. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

What brand of test kit are you using? I've heard Red Sea kits give false possitives for ammonia in the .5 range.

I'm not familiar with that band.
IMO you should have the water tested with another brand, like at the lfs or by a fellow reefer.

do you still have a bicolor angel in the 30 gallon tank with other fish too much bioload or overfeeding will make your amonia high

I'm down to two fish, a 4 stripe damsel and a sebae clown, the bi-color died 3 days ago, and the 4 stripe ate a blue damsel. I've been feeding them live brine avery 2 to 3 days, and doing 10% water changes every 3. I have never had more than 5 inches of fish in the tank at any 1 time. I think my problem is an uncured piece of LR, but it's kinda pointless to take it out now, it's on week three.

As of now, money is a little tight, I'm using "start right" in the water, and letting the mix sit 48 hours b4 going in the tank. Is this bad

i used this stuff to drop ammonia called AmQuel, it removes ammonia, chloramines and chlorine...i used it just the one time to get it down and it worked right away and then i haven't had the ammonia go up since...it is a quick fix but you do need to find the problem....

Like I said, I think the problem is the LFS, the guy sold me a piece of uncured live rock, after I found out, it was too late so I have to let it cycle, but here it is 3 weeks later and most of my fish are dead. I'm using AmmoLock, but that doesn't get rid of Ammonia it just neutralizes it. I'm also using TLC, it's 100% bacteria that "eliminates Ammonia, and Nitrates but again, 3 weeks and nothing. My last test was:
Am .5
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
ph 8.2
SG 1.026
I'm heading to the LFS to have them test my water later today

It's a looks thing, but you don't have to paint. Might be easier for you to get the plastic wallpaper stuff. If you cut it nice and neat it looks just as good.

I cut a piece of heavy black vinyl for the back of the tank. Used Velcro to secure it. Works great! You can also use fabric as well.
