Stocking for a 29 gallon?

What about the Midias? And I was thinking about a pistol shrimp too. I think they're way too cool, but I know they're quick. Would they harm any slow moving fish? Also, anyone have any expreance with Barbershop Gobys? Orchid Dottybacks?
Also, if I got the Mandarin, it would be a very long time from now and probably one of the last fish I add. Maybe in about a year and a half. XP

Anyone have any expeareance with Barbershop Gobys? Bulldog, I read that if you get a pistol and Barbershop in a pair they will live together too, and I just think the barbershops are a bit cooler than the watchmen. Anyone? =)

in our 33g we have currently a twinspot hogfish and a pair of firefish gobies. a livestock order is on the way and we will be adding a blue flasher wrasse and a red hawkfish which will complete our stocking. its more than what some people would recommend but we have a sump/fuge and have turned a canister filter into a fuge so there is lots of biofiltration on our tank.
depending on what coral you plan to keep you could look into the dwarf angels too. many of them have 30g as a min tank size.
you probably do research outside of the forums and may have already come to this conclusion but you are going to get very different opinions on stocking from different people. some are very conservative in what they recommend and there are others that are completely irresponsible and stock ridiculously heavy. i think there is room to push things a little beyond the conservative estimates without being one of these jackasses that put triggers and hippos on 30g tanks! hahah.

Thanks for that, lol. I was going to do that anyways, but it feels good hearing people saying it rather than being all "I'm right, you'll never get better information anywhere else but me so do what I say or your a tard." lol most people here have been very nice and helpful, but you always get those pesky little few that hurt your esteem, ya know? Anyways, i think I got it down to what I want in this tank. Thanks to all who inputed and helped out. =)
Also, I googlerd the blue flasser wrasse and my jaw LITERALLY fell open. Absolutly amazing
fish, good luck with your new livestock! I want to see pictures too! =O
P.S. That same friend of mine who is going to help me build a fuge just called me. Appeareantly I have to come over to his house asap to get some photos of his favorite little hitchiker. He got a baby octopus! =D How cool is that, right? His LFS that sold him the rock said they'll take it back and hold it for him while he sets up its own tank. Cool right? Just thought I'd share. lol

Thats pretty neat.
As far as your tank, They make a cpr hob fuge that you can set up on your tank. It would give you a good place to start a pod culture. I would order a supply of amphipod and copods to seed it with. Fill it with rock rubble and cheato, let them multiply.
Here is the list I would do in your tank
Red scooter
barbershop and pistal shrimp
blue reef chromis or firefish goby
a pair of bangii

Thanks Teresa. I've also been reading a bit about breeding pods in jars and what not and then injecting the tank with them when it need be. I'll have the pods down and covered before I get the Mandarin. I'll look up your suggustions. =)

on the issue of the mandarin, swf.com recommends 30g as a min tank size. i think for such a small fish the tank size really isnt the issue and its the pod population you need to worry about. with a productive fuge, as others have said, you might pull it off.
