Doug,
It looks great! But if there is any one thing I would change, it would be the location. I think it would look much better if you moved it..........
to my house

BTW what substrate are you using?

Looks much better X! I'm so glad to see the owner decided to let you do this! What did you end up doing about the 48" fixture? What are you going to do about the dead fish? Those are some expensive fish to replace. It's too bad we don't live close. I have a 58 QT going to complete waste I'd have loved to store his fish in for you. Oh well. The only thing I would change is I'd get some crown molding or something to cover the exposed trim on the display side of the tank. You could do flat crown molding all the way around to make it look uniform, or you could just do a ledge type piece over that bottom trim and it would probably look natural.
Great job with the rockwork! You have tons of room in the sand for sexy LPS corals! Don't put xenia in that beautiful tank! LOL! Can't wait to see what you guys stock it with!

I don't know if this will work to cover up the trim but something my lfs did with their in-wall displays is put picture frames on the wall around the tanks. I think it looks really good like that. Probably more expensive to go that way though

hey Mr. X what about the middle? What if u put like one tower straight up with nothing else on it. I think it would look great man. The fish could do circles around it and give ppl headaches after they been on a bike or tredmill for a hour lol. joking any way think it would put a great final touch to that tanks LR.

Maybe you can get some nice frags from the owner once its running and he goes crazy on the tank like we know he will

thanks everyone! i appreciate it.
would anyone change anything they see here?
I wouldn't. Looks like you have nice slopes for some excellent coral placement. It'll look awesome with growth all over it. Very nice. Does he plan on keeping it viewable from both sides. I hafta say it looks a little corny seeing his private office area through the tank. Maybe a black curtain he could pull back for viewing after regular hours from "his" side of the tank. Or a two way mirror with the refletive side toward the tank...that might be cool. Then add a tomato clown to fight with itself. He could see into the tank and the gym, while members see the mirror.

I did think of one thing that haunted me. Is there any weights or sets near this? In case the worst happens and someone hits it? Nice work anyway

I agree with the mirror. I think it would look better. Or a cheaper route would be to tint the glass on the back. Then he could see out but no one could see in very well

Good way to get someone else addicted and not spend a dime in the process. Running a gym is probably stressful and at least now he will have a relaxing hobby

thanks again everyone. i'll suggest the mirror/curtain/tint to him. meanwhile, i drove almost 20 hours in the last 2 days to pick up a puppy. on my way, i got a phone call from the gym owners wife. she told me that the return pump was gurgling (it had evaporated to the point of being exposed to air, and no one filled it), and she wanted to know what to do. i might have to re-evaluate my contract and charge accordingly.

here comes the diatom blooms. he called me today and told me there is brown stuff on the rock and glass. right now he runs the halides for about 12 hours a day with no livestock in the tank, because he feels the members want to see the tank.

I'm laughing by myself imagining members walking by exclaiming "wow man, how'd you get such good diatom growth? I think it's really coloring up well.. which bulbs are you running to get those colors out of it?"

Might wanna fix them up with a ATO after that huh?
i can't. there is no running water or place to store a container near enough to the tank. i made the return area plenty large enough. you could leave it for about 5 or 6 days before needing to add water. i instructed them what to do. the statement i was responded was "i got 10 million things to do around here...it's not on my priority list"
