the terminator pic was ok except for my stupid facial expression. yes, it's all new LR, because the old LR had been dosed with copper. i didn't weigh the old rock, but if i had to guess, i'd say about 100 pounds. it's outside the gym on the grass if anyone wants it.

I have questions.
1) Where did you get the LR?
2) What did it cost?
3) What size bit are you using?
4) What is the rod made of that you are using?
This is great to watch. What an awesome job. I'm at a stand still with mine right now. I finally have all of my plumbing. I think. The guy at TFP used my camera and took pictures of the connections, and where they need to go. It was a great idea. Now if I can just make it work.
Keep up the great job. I'm loving this!

the live rock came from a local store. i don't want to announce the name of it because it would conflict with SWF's rules, but you can email me if you like (dougkurceba@hotmail.com)
it was 5 bucks a pound.
the bit is a 5/8" masonry bit from home depot (about 12 dollars i think)
the rod is made from acrylic. i ordered a few of these from an online vendor (tap plastics).they are 1/2" acrylic rods.

I sent you an email. I ordered 2 of the rods, $19.00 and some change. That included shipping UPS ground. Thank you. I doubt if I'll need 12 foot, but I'd rather have extra, just in case. I'll get my husband to pick up the bit on his next trip to HD. Thank you so much.

wow..mine came in 4' lengths. i'd advertise some here. i'm sure someone else will want to use them.
you can use a 1/2" bit if you want the rock to fit tighter, but i had a heck of a time sliding the rock on last time, so i chose the larger bit this build.

I'm gonna try this with my next build also. I used the pvc method of live framing for my 110 tank last time. It worked, and granted it looks great, but it took a LOOONG time to build. Looks like you got the same effect with a much simpler assembly!

well, it would be a real easy fix to start over, but what if you had to work with this tank? what is my next course of action?
the gym membership is 70 bucks a month.
One of my local fish stores just started doing saltwater and asked for my help now I don't know alot but the owner came to my house to see my tank and said what ever It was doing was good enough for his store, so I went with a list of ideas just like I was starting a new tank in my own home...The advantage with him is he can buy all he needs at cost. As a business man I do know this when ever you can do more for less that is a win win in my book. That gym membership will be penuts compared to what you will get out of it for making him look good.

The owner is cool guy, I went to help Doug out and the guy was really nice. X may even be able to get a few more people into the hobby and help them along the way. So $70 to get a few more people in may be worth it.
That rock is unreal, I love it. I was going to try to sneak a few pieces home.

Too bad you can't change the name of the thread. I'm sure a lot of people look right past it because of the title.
REALLY AWESOME, IN WALL, PUBLIC DISPLAY REEF BUILD would get more attention.
