I don't think you need the bracket. A Dr. I know online has a few to choose from. You could pack it with filter floss or carbon even. They are pretty cheap.

i have some filter bags available i was thinking about as well. I put my phosphate sponge and my carbon in seperate bags and was thinking about using one on the intake as well. I think that pic was courtesy of your doctor friend.

in the bubble trap before the pump. i dont know if it works, but i figure after the water is scrubbed by the fuge, may as well brillo pad it with the carbon/phosphate remover. plus in the 6" baffle its easy to grab them out.

well, the person who was going to sell me the sand hasn't responded to any pm's, so it looks like i might have missed out on a good deal :(
on a side note, i've noticed my skimmer is pulling out 2x the crap it used to in my old system. i wasn't used to it pulling out so much and the bubbles came out the top and crusted up the top of the container :scared:
that stuff it pulls out has got to be the nastiest stuff in the whole hobby, very close to dead mexican turbo snail...

always thinking:
well, my chaeto is not growing as well in this fuge as it was in the 10 gallon. I know the water is basically flowing over the chaeto, not through it, so i'm planning on adding more sand to get the level in there up so the chaeto's in the flow.
newest question is: my mag5 is 500gph i believe. is this enough flow going through a 29 gal sump? it seems it is very lazy through the fuge.

I think the mag 5 is good especially for your fuge. You could add a powerhead to tumble your chaeto.

I'm just concerned. at least with the wet/dry i saw stuff getting filtered out in the bioballs. I always had crap on the mag 5's filter. I had a lot of qtip sponges growing in it. Now, my filter media still gets a tad dirty and i'm changing it out every 4-5 days, my skimmer seems to be working overtime, but the filter on the mag isn't getting dirty much and my chaeto isn't growing. i cant help but wonder if my sump is doing any good.

hey, i got the plenum and chetto in mine, i have a ~600gph pump on mine...the chetto isnt rolling, should it?
id say give it some time, my trates have been hovering ~20 since i moved from the 55->75, and the water's still looking good, except i cant get the skimmer to skim as much as i would like...i have a prizm pro deluxe on the top, and will have a berlin deluxe HO on the sump this weekend...i think things will work out for you.

woot page 4
my trates do not register, but my phosphates slightly register (not clear, but only a small tint of blue on the salifert test). i've not had a problem with trates in my tank ever, although i can't get them lower than 60 in the QT (which makes me think my biowheel is causing it and having no sand/rock in it doesn't help). if overflows weren't so darned expensive i would turn my 10 gallon back into a sump/refuge for the qt LOL.

renogaw, honestly, adding 10 gall to a 75 is kinda a waist of space IMO, the 12x12 space is a decent amount of space for that chaeto to grow...i'm having the same issue(since same style fuge, slightly larger ret-pump, and same depth sand) why not put a Maxjet 400/600 on baffel 4 (post 69 R->L)in the middle pointing slightly to the bottom of the chaeto, this will cause a rolling motion as the water flows over the eggcrate and bottom of the sand baffel...

no, not for the 75. i'm going to make a 10 gallon sump/refuge for my 20 gallon QT :)
the only thing i don't like about putting a pump in with the chaeto is the chaeto always ends up IN the pump. I am going to grab some play sand and put another 30lbs of sand into the sump to make a very DSB. I've been pricing live sand and since i already have live sand why deal with it having it shipped. this should raise the level that the chaeto is soaking in to get it in the flow of the water instead of under it.
