OK last question should it be acrylic or glass? so the plans are
10 gallon sump
3/4inch pvc pipe
1/4 inch glass/acrylic

if it was just for the added water volume it would still be the way to go

I would go with glass - acrylic expands in water and may blow the sides of your sump out, if they are too tight
