I'm guessing the snail my hermit's shell is from was a Cominella lineolata which comes from the area around Australia.

Misty's snail looks like it is a Euthria bernardi.
At any rate, I'd get it out since whelks tend to be problem children.

Thanks for the input everyone.. The snail doesn't appear to be a sand sifter.. It stays in the rocks mostly during the day, and comes out at night. hasn't seemed to bother anything in the tank so far... but if its preditory.. I don't want to take any chances.. I will get it out asap..

I have the same ones and I relocated them to a special tank without any critters in it. They are a preditory snail and there are pics of them all over this website... just dont ask me to dig them up :)

well he must know I'm trying to oust him, cause I usually see it everyday, and now it is in "Hiding" as soon as I see it, I have a friend who says they will take it, even though I have told them it is predatory. So now we just play the waiting game.
Wax, that is a different looking hermit.. Does it cause any problems ?
