Synthetic mixing VS Live or "Real" Saltwater

I have started using what is refered to as "Natures Ocean Bio Water -Nutri-Seawater-" ...Google search for website... harvested from god knows where...just an expiriment for now and I have allready noticed a large increase in gravity w/ natural precipitation.
Tested almost perfect w/ Salifert.
The container comes w/ 4.4 gallons but has no safety seal...hmmmmmm....
Any sugestions, recomendations or comments welcome~!

i really like that stuff. i try and use it every few water changes. everything in my tank looks amazing the day after!

Yeah google it...they are in Ft Lauderdale Florida... I live about 20 miles from Ft Lauderdale. I have seen there web site. I have also seen EVERY local Aquarium maintinence company down at the inlet collecting water right out of the ocean. They get it right out of the ocean and put it in a container....I suppose they make 1000 percent profit per gallon.

i use that in the winter. in the summer i collect my water straight from the ocean. imo, water changes with natural sea water makes my tank look better than mixing salt and ro/di water.

I use natural sea water 24/7/365

My lfs sells SW for .50/gallon. All along i thought he made batches of the stuff in the back, till he finally told me he gets it right from our ocean here during high tide... no problems so far!

The only thing I've read about natural seawater is it dies both biologically and chemically more quickly than synthetic seawater. I guess that just translates into more frequent water changes. Nothing wrong with that though.
Oh yeah I read that in "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Robert Fenner.

winter sucks. the boat gets winterized so my only option would be to get the water from the bay. im sure the salinity would be off though.

i also like to add that when i do water changes with NSW, the blues and mostly purples seem to just pop in all my corals and even the coraline seems to become more vibrant. i never noticed that when using synthetic.

Im in S.Fl too. How and when do you do this? Collecting close to shore means theres a possibility of pollutants. Do you go at high tide? Ever gotten any unwanted critters or bad experiences from this?

Also...Bang Guy, Ophiura, Beth, NM Reef or any other curator/biologist has any substantial input on this form of water change as I believe its a subject less addressed than necessary~!
