about a month ago (when I still had my nano) I bought a chiller from an LFS that I had grown to like and spent al ot of my money at. He got it in from the warehouse and I came to pick it up and took it home and set it up. When I set it up, the display was broken and it was not cooling right, it also made this terrible loud noise that filled half of my house!! I knew it was broken. I took it back to the store and told my buddy, the manager, that is was broken and it wasn't working right. We plugged it and it made the same noise but he said it didn't. We took it home, tried again but with no success. Took it back (the same day we bought it) and asked for a simple exchange or a refund or even a store credit. He told me no... long story short he was really rude and said that since another guy had ordered 5 grand worth of equipment that was never paid for, the store couldn't afford to "eat it."
I was very angry that I spent over 300 bucks and had a broken product. I reported him to the BBB online. They sent the business a notification about it recently and he called my home today!! He called today at about 3 o'clock and cursed me out, said I was a liar and that none of that ever happened! He yelled at me and said "Don't ever come in my f-ing store again!"
How can a business owner harass someone like that?!?! I still can't believe that he called my home!
Just goes to show you that no matter what kind of patron you are, even one who spend a lot of money in a store (upwards of 3k in about 4 months), they will still try to screw you. Since I reported him, I have not been back to the store. And after he called my house, I reported him to the BBB again. What a A-- hole!
You gotta be kidding me. I would have marched right into that store and created the mother of all scenes. Some lines you just don't cross. I would have gone in there and wrecked shop. I don't guess he will be in business long if that is the extent of his professionalism. Always two sides of the story I suppose though. Restraining order, pfft, that guy doesn't care about a restraining order...he yelled over a phone
he's not seeking anyone out. Confront him, it's the last thing he expects. Not talking about breaking anything or touching the guy, but you can make a lot of noise
. Especially if other people are there, make him really uncomfortable.

just to clear some things up...
I sold the chiller on CL to a guy who had an in-wall unit in a DR. office. He said he didn't care about the noise because he was losing so much water a day that he needed a chiller and this one was the right size and he had a 40 gallon. It was also within his budget.
I was forced to sell it on CL because when we called current, they said we should take it back to the store and the store should have a 30 day warranty thing that all authorized dealers of current have. They said that the store would have to send it to them and it should be on their dime to send it back. When we asked the store, they denied it made a noise, like i said and that he display always said 77, no matter what the temp actually was of the water. When we told Current what happened they said that we could send it back on our dime, but that it may take a long time and that since the store wasn't willing to co-operate, it could end bad for us, if the store wasn't a "authorized dealer".
No meowzer- this was NOT the owner, though when we first started shopping there, he acted like he was and kept saying "me" "Mine" "my store". Then we met the real owner after months of shopping there. We bought the 24gal NANO bow front from there for about 600 bucks because it was unique and we couldn't find it anywhere else. It was a good size for my BF's office. The manager knocked like 40 bucks off the price just to move some inventory... at the time we wanted to support the business. When we came in next, we met the owner and he basically tried to tell us that we persuaded Carlos, the manager to give us a discount. When Carlos said "no, it was me..." he kind of backed off. This guy Luis is the owner and he's kind of a piece of work too, but I never knew carlos to be this way. That is, until the phone call today.
I am not going to get a restraining order, as I don't think I will ever see him, and if he approaches me, I may or may not inflict some damage and treat it like a "kick butt and ask questions later" situation... and as concealed weapons permits... I am not stranger to that... though I don't treat that like a joke. It's a serious piece of equipment... capable of doing some serious damage.
Also- I spent the day talking to the BBB again, and then I reported him on about 10 different sites today such as ripoffreport.com, the yellow pages, google reviews etc...
Hopefully it will deter people from spending their hard earned cash....
I still can't believe that this guy called my house!!! ugh!! what a pratt!
in regards to speaking with the owner.. he is NEVER there. Like I said, I saw him once in about 6-8 months worth of shopping there.... and we were there atleast 3 times a week for equipment and food and all, when we first started. I never knew that that manager guy was not the owner....

From experience, the BBB is a total joke and wont do much unless you stay on them constantly. The best thing to do, if you have the time, is cost the store money. Dont do it on their property because they can legally have you removed. But anywhere near them that is public or not owned by them be it the parking lot, sidewalk etc. Hang out and make your issue known to everyone who even looks like they are going to walk in the store, bash them on every online forum and review site possible and report them to any agency you can. The last thing any business person wants is someone who is pissed off hanging around and word of mouth travels fast. We researched some local stores and the opinions and reviews of the not so good ones were dead on. If you make your issue known in anyway possible people will think twice before shopping there, or not bother at all. Are you making any progress with the BBB?

.....You could also post the store name and contact info on lots of forums. Some people will call relentlessly just for kicks.

Who has that kind of time? This could get you into slander issues.
On the other hand...
Yeah, do this and post pics, so it's not just the people that were "there" that can laugh at you.

lol Yeah I posted their name and number on some places and said that they guy cursed at me and called my home and all. I basically googled them and then any site that had those thinks like "write a review" on it... I wrote down what happened and that they shouldn't shop there. What's more, I took it a step further and left outrageously good reviews for all of the competition stores in the area and gave them all like 5 stars. I gave them 1 or none where you were aloud to leave none.
I am making progress. Obviously, the BBB did contact them, and the info i now there for other consumers to see....
lol I have the time to make their life hell, since I don't start my new job for another 2 weeks. I am gonna do my best to put him out of business.... jerks. They totally deserve it, and not just to make me feel better... So that no one else gets screwed.
I honestly feel like if someone else had to me something like this, I would have never shopped there.

s10lowrider... what forums? what do you mean people will call for kicks... haha I should get an old auto dialer of CL and put their number and his cell phone (that's the number he called off of today) and relentlessly call him and play a stupid message or something.
I went back to high school for about 10 minutes and considered a fun way to get rid of the eggs I have in my fridge. But... I dk... I'll probably get super smashed some night with friends and it could happen... not saying it will... but it might.... anything is possible. That would make my day to watch him clean it up to... I'll make him work for the 300+ dollars he cheated me out of.

Haha any forum you can find. We're on an auto forum also and some guy got really irritated with someone (cant remember the story). Anyway he posted the info online after he figured out that if he cant get any money out of it he might as well have fun. Needless to say almost everyone who was bored was calling, emailing or setting up an auto "wake up call" just to bug the guy. If you cant get your cash back you might as well irritate them to no end and hurt the business in anyway possible.

thanks for the info rider... I might have to give that a try...

I have thought of some aweful things to do to this fool. I don't think I'll act on them, But I think leaving them more bad reviews is enough to really make an impact on the business. That is what I am aiming to do. Hopefully the owner sees what he's done and fires his sorry butt.

Dont know if this will help, but I had a buddy that bought a computer from a large electronics store. It was busted when he got it home, and for some reason the store would not exchange it. He got a huge poster board and glued lemons to it, then wrote that the store sold him a lemon and wouldnt make it right. He then stood outside of the stores front door showing the sign to everyone who walked in. When the made him leave, he stood on the street by the entrance to the parking lot, but this time he had a megaphone and his board. Long story short 4 hrs later he had a new computer.

hahaha I thought about something like that. I think I am going to put that write on chalk on my car with a message like
"AZ sea bottom are scammers! BAD SERVICE! BAD MANAGEMENT!!! your money is best spent elsewhere!"
i live kind of close to there, and that way, I can get the message around without having to stand out in the 100 degree weather.
There is nothing they can do to make it write, short of firing that guy. I will never shop at a place where employees can call customers and curse at them and say rude things, especially with the money I spent there. I really hope he loses his job. There are better people out there who need jobs right now... he doesn't deserve to work.

it seems better to just buy online these days as most online stores will make it right.i bought a 6 foot light fixture and it came with a broken bulb.all i had to do was email a pic of the bulb and they sent me another one .well the 2nd one came broken and they sent a third and it was good.
thee bbb will get results but i dont think mant people will go to thier site before shopping there.
in my business being construction alot of my customer go to the bbb before i even get to thier estimate.luckilly i have zero complaints in 15 yrs.
i have had a couple people call them on me and the bbb get on me pretty fast and are fair to both sides.but in the complaints they sided with me.some people cant be satisfied.
if i were you i would have the bbb make sure they get in touch with the owner himself.the bbb will ask you what outcome you want and they will make sure the owner replies.if the owner has the same attitude well then game on

the problem is that he has already dumped the chiller. therefore legally, there is no recourse for him to have. had he not dome that, he could prove that he has been damaged. now there is nothing for the owner do make right.

Please say you used your visa or mastercard... you can dispute a charge if you attempted to work it out in good faith and the store didnt work it out with you..its the whole visa protection thing. mastercard does it too. it can be a little bit of a pain but you will get your money back. the info to do it will be on the back of your monthly statement.

that debit/mastercard thing is a good idea. really (and it sucks to say this) it's just a few hundred bucks, and in the grand scheme of things, no big deal. what she has done thus far has been the right thing to do. now that the chiller is gone, theres no need, IMO, to waste time with the whole sign thing (time is money).

i agree wind ,once the unit was sold there is nothing to get a trade obviously.
i would just make sure the owner knows how his customers are being treated.i am sure the op isnt the only customer treated this way.

I am a she.... lol

I did use my VISA and I am still thinking there might be a way to get my money back.... I don't know... Don't really know if that's my biggest concern.
I think I will do the sign because I want people to know there this store is a bunch of jerks and scammers. That may be the only way for the owner to find out. He may have to see some of the reviews I left online, or the sign on my car to realize what happened, and frankly, it's his own fault for hiring a guy like this, and then not managing his employees. He should have been more involved in his business. I don't think the manager would have had a problem exchanging it and making a customer happy. If they were smart, they would have tried to keep a customer. apparently they don't need my money and I am going to make sure that they don't get anyone elses.

The chargeback will also hit the store.
The store will eat the enitrity of the amount that your CC company refunds to you.

i'm sorry too. but once he left the store, the owner had no right to call him
and curse him out. he was well within his right to ask the owner to make it right and if the owner did not, then he was well within his right to call the BBB. If the owner had made it right, he could have called the bbb and filed a GREAT story as well. An adult would have realized that he screwed up and strive for better customer service next time. A violent idiot would call him up and curse him out.
If someone did that to me I would take it as a threat and thus I would file a restraining order, and if after that, they saw me and approached me on the street, I would take that as a threat as well and appropriately defend myself. Thank god for conceal carry permits... And I am a peace loving tree-hugging democrat.
To the OP: No, you shouldn't have sold it on CL. If you had to eat a few dollars shipping it back, it probably would have been less that you had to eat selling it on CL. Now, someone else has been screwed. The old saying 2 wrongs don't make a right still apply.
rlablan is a she, not a he. Just thought I'd say.... lol
