I read that you can keep 3 or more tangs in a tank. Do the tangs have to be the same kind? or do all tangs get together regardless of species. How big of a tank do you need? Thanks

Sorry, I thought it said what size tank I had in my bio, I have a 90 gallon. Close enuff to 100?? I wish and hope!! They are on my wishlist! I currently have 1 yellow tang(he's my favorite) and would like to add more tangs. Are 2 ok or do you need 3?

Don't add another Yellow or even another Zebrasoma sp. IMO.
Is your tank 4', 5' or 6'?
How do you like the Kole Tang?

My tank is 6' long and very deep. I like the naso, hippo (thought they look hard to keep), or the powder blue tang.

I agree with Bang Guy, a hippo should do well with a yellow tang.
It is quite possible to keep several tangs together; you just need to be careful about what types you keep, their relative sizes, and the personality of the individual fish.
Hippos are not hard to keep, just very prone to ich. Proper QT is a must.

i have found that when you mix tangs of the same genus you are looking for trouble.
To keep it simple... If they have the same sillhouette don't put them together.
IE- Yellow + Purple or Sailfin, no
Yellow + Hippo, yes
Yellow + Naso, yes
etc

you say your tank is 6' and very deep, but its only a 90gal. it can't be very deep if its 6 feet long. How deep is it?

I think you have that backwords the longer it gets the taller it gets. say I have a 3 foot 90 gallon "not in existance but just a theory" 3 foot long to compensate it would have to be wider to make up the 90 gallons right. so if I stretched it out it would get narrow and taller.

Aren't most 90 gallon tanks only four feet long? If it is six feet long and very deep it must be very narrow.

I have a 300 gal tank and I have a Yellow tang, blue eye and a sailfin tang. And they get along Great!
I would hope so in that big of a tank they would have plenty of room for more of the same sub specieses. Just as long as they have room for there territory you could I have seen huge tanks with a pair of yellows and a pair of purbles and they co-exist because it is so big they can.
