Tank Calculations

Then my best guess is a 72g bowfront...
BUT! Even standard tanks can't hold as much water as they say they can. For example, my 20g long could only hold 19g of water. lol! Same with my 20 high. Then, once you add sand and rock you have even less water volume...

Typically I think they usually round them off. And we have to remember that the inside dimensions of the tank are the actual dimensions to go by if you want acuracy.
I remember a while back I added up the calcs for Flowers tank. If you include the platic trim from top to bottom it came out to something like 93 gallons. But when you add up the actual dimensions inside it came out to pretty close to 90g on the nose.
My 120g's inside dimensions come out to like 121.something. So I think they just pick a number closest to what it actually is that sounds good to them at the time lol.

By what FloridaJoe posted, you either have an 80g tank or a 90g tank depending on the height. You did say it was 48"x18" at the bow, but you never stated how tall it was.
I'm not real sure how tall it is. Looks like the standard 55g height. It belongs to my buddy... but he's trying to sell it to me. It's undrilled.... and I'm still debating if I want to go that route for a salt tank.
I'll have to get a measurement on the height.

If I really had to calculate the exact amount of water volume in my 20g high without the sump, I would round it off at 14g of actual water volume.
