Tank Is Crashing

AHHHHHHHHHHHH. I think im going to cry. All my fish are slowly going six feet under. I dont know what could be wrong, everything was fine for six months and bam, everything starts to drop like flies. I fell like a murder, I have somehow killed all my little kids. Next will be my corals and then i think a will crawl into a little ball and shutter sobbing. Then i will probly get pissed and and toss the whole thing. My life sucks.........

I feel sad for you
, I know what its like to loose your "children"(as I call them). You are not a murderer, but hmm hopefully someone can help solve the mystery plague in your tank.

one thing i forgot that is obvious..... what are your levels? what have you added previous to all this happening?

Sorry to hear that, it's a VERY stressful hobby!!!!!!!

I have lost my little kids before too, it's very hard to watch!! Now I have bunch of coral kids to watch for. Feed them and stuff. So far everything is good except one fish isn't eating after 6 months later....Do NOT know what's going on, I'm stressing out too here! All the test are good.
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
PH - 8.2
Salinity - 1.025
Temp - 78
Calcium - 400
Plus all the other stuffs are all good, took my water to LFS for test today too to see if everything looks good to them, and it was all good. So we're lost?> Hoping he would eat again soon......

You know what, I do need to look into that. But it's a Naso Tang I'm talking about here. They're known to do this! Any Naso Tang under 3" rarely survive in captivity. It's been done, but some aren't as successful. My happen to be around 2.5-3" I've had him for quite sometime now and was doing good until now. The other 2 fish is doing very well except this one, he wouldn't eat for me when I first received him from this site. It took me over a week to get him to eat. He's a very picky eater....Now he decides he don't like brown algae anymore(I used this to get him to eat in the first place), he would eat formula 2 so I feed him that to keep him happy. But he needs to eat algae again. I need to go order some other type of algae for him now, I had to order those brown ones before just for him. I LOVE this fish, one of my favorite fish. Got a VERY nice tank for him in the near future, was looking at it today, gonna purchase the new tank this coming summer. I want him to eat and be healthy until that time comes. I usually throw in algae in the morning, had no idea he wasn't eating it at all until I notice he's getting very thin, I find the algae stuck either to the powerheads or still on the clip, but he would still eat formula 2 though. We'll see what happens, he's done this a couple of times before and comes out of it a week later. I have my fingers crossed!!!!!

My three lil fishies are piglets so no worries here at home on that score but when I get one in at work that won't eat by the second day or so I feed multiple times a day trying anything and everything! It's overfeeding but I figure that just means more work for me scooping out or siphoning up whatever isn't eaten and extra water changes if the nitrates start to go up. And which one of us true fish lovers would begrudge the extra work if it means the difference between saving a fish or losing it, right?
Keep trying! Even if it's something that's not completely nutritionally sound for a tang like live brine shrimp or something he's got to eat SOMETHING to keep going until you can hit upon or train him to eat the healthier stuff!
I've got loads of hair algae if you want some

The thing is that I've had him for over 6 months now. He's done this before off and on, but never this bad. I've tried all kinds of food, even got some microalgae for him yesterday at the LFS. He still won't eat, except formula 2, he would take little bits. I'll try some other stuffs tonight, I am wayyyyy over feeding because of him. But I have to be thankful to my good sand bed taking out all the nitrates and my protein skimmer too. Whenever he does something like this, I feed a lot, more then usual. Then I do a large water change in a week. We'll see what happens..... I think he might go to tang heaven soon....

I know you keep your tank parameters, compatibility and such right so I'd guess he was either a cyanide victim or has something internal? I don't think there's anything to be done if it's cyanide but maybe there's something out there for the other?

Thanks, but I don't think he's a cyanide victim, got it from this site. Update on him today! He is eating algae sheets again!!!!!!!
I double his feeds now, I can care less about my nitrate levels right now, my sandbed and bunch of pods and stuffs is taking care of left over food. Plus the protein skimmer and LR too of course. I rather do large water changes then losing him. He is eating quite a bit today. But I do see something else though, he has ich again! It just appeared last night when I was looking at him. I check him out everyday! I think from not eating, he's gotten very thin and succeptible to ich. Feeding him formula 2 again. I had great luck ridding ich with formula 2. I will NOT do hypo on him under this condition, I think he would die if I did hypo on him right now. He's gaining a bit of weight back today though from eating all that food. I hope he keep it up, wish me luck guys!!!

These hunger strikes are worrisome. Ok not cyanide, that's a relief, but any ideas on a possible internal problem or source of stress? Can you think of anything at all that precipitated this sudden feeding?
I agree though, with the condition he's in right now removing him to do hypo would probably do him more harm than good.
I really hope he keeps it up for ya!!!

ok sorry it took me so long to get back. This is what happened: I got two new fish a wrasse and a file fish. I slowly acclimented them to the tank. Then released them and shut out the lights. The next day i noticed everything was doing pretty bad so i checked everything. All levels were perfect except salinity which was like .0124. So i took a little water out and added fresh water. The next day I lost orange purple lobster, file fish, wrasse, and my first fish the yellow tail damsel
. My scotter blenny i thought was going to die as well but he finally came around today. What could be the problem? Im really bumed about this. none of my corals have died at least not yet

What you mean by adding fresh water? Did you add pre-mixed saltwater or RO water? You need to get your salinity up to 1.025-1.027 for your inverts. I would NEVER add LFS tank water into my tank. How long has this tank been set up? How did you acclimate your new fish? Should of put them into QT tank first for a month for obervation. Best to do a water change right now to correct any potential problem and check all the other live stock for any signs of disease! :happyfish
